My name is Malcolm. I am a citizen of the United States of America and have been for the past 32 years.I can't tell you any more than that because now I'm on the run. And that's because I discovered something the government wanted kept secret-we're not the only intelligent life forms on this planet. There are three other groups capable of speech. The dragons, who fly by night and seem to be giant bats, are the first. The second is the Magi, or at least, that's what they call themselves in human hearing. They travel by day and appear to be ordinary humans. However, at night they turn into a variety of things, the most prominent of which being wolves. These are the true forms of the Magi. And they are their strongest at night, though they are more readily identifiable. You may even have a few near you or working with you. You never know. Unless of course, you catch them on the night shift. Of the three groups of intelligent life forms apart from humans, the Magi have the most questionable diets. The third and final group is known as the Ghosts. You may have seen one or two. Maybe even spoken with one of them. They are by far the most dangerous of the intelligent life forms we share space with. They blend in with their environments, you see. They are virtually invisible, but can of a certainty affect the world around them. You don't want to anger them. I saw someone make that mistake once. They didn't live very long to regret it. The Ghosts eat very little except lightning. When storms are out, they are. But they also have a secondary, not so satisfying diet. Which just happens to be dreams. Have you ever wondered why some nights, you are certain you had a strange dream, but cannot remember what it was? That would be a Ghost eating the dream. The worse the dream, the more filling it is to them, for some reason. They say life itself is a dream, but that may be their way of explaining how they can absorb a person who's angered them. I don't think they themselves understand it. And on the matter of diets, Dragons eat death. Surprising, yes, but not impossible. Whenever something dies, they are there that night to consume the lingering presence. What some would call a ghost, but not really. It is just the scattered fragments of the unraveled tapestry that was the person's life. Or something like that. I cannot really explain it without confusing everybody. The Dragons also eat fire, ice, and fear. When they really have to, that is. Dragons, like their name implies, live in caves and are serpentine in nature. The Magi live wherever they choose, which can be anything from under a rock to in a 59 floor sprawling mansion. And Ghosts live wherever there are dreams and storms in abundance. Unless they are on a diet. This information comes directly from the aforementioned life forms. Unfortunately, I'm on the run in the dead of winter, as I already mentioned. Malcolm signing off for now.
