Chapter:

Home room the bane of my existence. Why?, you might ask. That is the one class I don’t have with Gabriel. The school thought it would be smart and separated all of the races the fallen angels have home room with the fallen angels, the vampires with the vampires and so on and so forth. They did this so that let’s say the werewolves get bored they don’t tear of some poor hybrids head.

I walked into the room and automatically knew that I wouldn’t enjoy this home room at all. As I walked by this one jock he yelled to me. "So Alex you shack up with Gabe this summer?" The whole home room looked at me for my response but I didn’t give one I just sat down in my seat and ignored everything.

But with my luck the stupid jock came up and sat in front of me. "You didn’t answer my question you little bitch." All of his friends chuckled.

"Get away from me." I growled. They always picked on me because I was friends with Gabriel and he was a vampire.

He tilted his head to one side. "Hmmm…Let me think, no. Why should I listen to a blood traitor." The whole class turned to look at us. To the radical pure bloods (which most pure bloods were) being called a blood traitor was the worst thing in the world. Beside having children with another race.

"I said get away from me you dumb ass jock!" I stood up and everyone’s eyes were on me.

He stood up and back handed me, "How dare you talk to me like that you filth." I put my hand up to my cheek; it hurt like hell but I couldn’t cry. Not in front of them. When in their eyes you were popular because you hung out with the pure bloods. Sure the different races talked to each other and everything but a mixed breed relationship was frowned upon. And of course I had the luck of people thinking that Gabe and I were going out.

The teacher finally stepped in, "Students settle down." He sat back down and I looked at him in disbelief. Was that all he was going to say? I sat back down and looked down at my hands not wanting to make eye contact with anyone.

When the bell for first period rang I was relieved to get out of there; except for the fact that I had math. At my school they frowned down upon us perfecting our abilities in school. So we had normal classes except our gym classes were more interesting.

"Hey what happened?" Gabriel asked as he sat down next to me.

"What?" I asked giving him a puzzled look.

"Your face." He touched where the jock hit me and I flinched.

"You know just another dumb jock." I said shrugging my shoulders. The teacher started to talk.

"Did the teacher do any thing about it?" He whispered and I shook my head, pretending to listen to the teacher. "He can’t get away with this."

I turned to Gabe. "He can and he will. The principle won’t do a damn thing because the whole mixed relationship thing." Which I was getting tired of because me and Gabe were just friends.

Gabriel shook his head, "That shouldn’t happen. The principle isn’t supposed to be like that."

"Well it does matter and the principle is like that. Now drop it, it’s done and over with."

"But Alex…"Gabriel started but I interrupted.

"Drop it Gabe, we can’t change the way the world is." I said in between clenched teeth.

"This isn’t the world Alex , this is school." He whispered so loud that everyone around us was looking at us.

"Drop it." Gabriel shook his head disapprovingly and looked to the front of the class.

When the bell rang Gabe jumped out his seat and was the first out the door. I slowly got up and walked with the flow of students until some one pulled me away and pinned me to the wall.

I looked at the person. "What are you doing Gabriel." I growled looking over his shoulder to make sure no one was looking at us.

"I’m going to tell my father. I’m sure he can do something about this." Gabe’s father was high up in the government and of course the government was against the whole pure blood thing. Well it seemed that most of them were.

"Don’t bring your father into something as petty as this. The government has more important things to deal with." I growled and tried to get free but he wouldn’t let me.

"It’s not fair for people to get the shit beat out of them just because of the people they hang out with. This is a public facility Alex, every one should be confident that they won’t get beat up when they come here." He growled back.

I knew I wasn’t going to win this fight. "Fine then tell your dad, just know that it will probably make it worse for me."

"At least I can say I tried to change this." He let go of me and walked off.
