As the sun rose in the sky I could feel the warm summer rays wash along the lands, banishing the cold night. I sat up in my bed and Trianna was already eating her breakfast, which looked like an entire cow.

I sat up without really looking at her meal, “Morning Trianna.”

“Morning, you are wanted in the kitchen for breakfast. Then to training with Simmone, Julian said to hurry.” She told me between bites.

“Ok thanks; see you when training is done.”  I walked out of the room and struggled to find my way to the kitchen. Once I found it I was sat down and was given fruit and porridge for breakfast. Somehow as I finished Julian waltzed into the room.

“Awe, I see you found your way here, and you finished! Great, because Simmone is expecting you in ten minutes.” I stood up and walked to him, waiting for him to lead me where I needed to go. He wrapped his arm around my arm and grasped my hand. “This way my lady,” He said huskily. I followed knowing I really had no choice, and honestly I’m really excited to begin my actual training.

We walked down many halls and took many turns. This was going to take forever to learn my way around this place. Once we actually got to our destination the entire hall opened into a volcanic pit. With not only an entire forest and wildlife to surround the volcano but there was a river flowing deep in the trees.

“Whoa.” I said.

“Beautiful isn’t it?” He asked. I could only nod my head.

“Uh, I mean, yes wonderfully beautiful.”

“Come on, the lava field is just over there.”

“Lava field?” I asked.

“Yeah, I’m sure you have volcanoes on Earth.”

“Yeah we do. We just don’t mess with them that much. We steer clear of them.”

“I’m sure you’ve always wanted to go to a live volcano.”

“Yes.” I looked at him. “How’d you know?”

“It’s the second most natural fire source in our worlds not including the sun. All Fires are drawn to them. It’s like the snow to a Water or a mountain to an Earth. It’s natural.” He smiled.

“That makes sense.” We made it to Simmone and she smiled at us.

“Now little phoenix it’s time to see your worth. Mystic will be here shortly. But we haven’t time to wait; your task is to show me you’re Flame.” I did as Kyah had taught me; I drew my Fire, “The Rainbow Flame, rare. Who has taught you?”

“Kyah did a little while we were traveling, we felt it safer for me to learn something incase anything happened.”

“Smart thinking, little phoenix. Now I brought you to the lava field because it is a Fire’s duty to control all sources of fire. Come.” She walked back into the woods and I followed. She led me to a little pond of lava. “I just called this from the volcano; your job is to bend it into a circle.”

I looked at the pool, I concentrated on it. I twitched my fingers out of my thinking habit. The lava rippled. I moved hand into a cone shape and lifted it higher and away from me. It shifted with me and went air born. I used my other hand and the last bits of the lava, I created a straight line. Now for the circle part, I moved my hands together and circled them in a huge loop. When I finished it was a complete perfect circle, I had my hands in a stop motion. I thought of the lava freezing, to stop moving. The lava darkened and cracked. I let it go and it fell and broke on the ground.

“Well, it was a circle.” I said. Simmone looked at me in astonishment.

“I only meant for you to move the lava in a circle on the ground, no Fire has done that they’re first day. Did Kyah work with you with lava?”

“No. We didn’t.” I said lamely.

“Then how?” Mystic walked in the forest line. She had dark black hair and ice white eyes, She stood tall and proud. She was wearing a silver and black tie die like dress.

“Simmone, have you heard?” Mystic said; a sullen expression filled her face.

“Heard of what my dear friend,” Simmone said.

“The sun, it’s dimming.” She said.

“Simmone, Mystic, we don’t have much time. I need to learn a lot.” They looked at me like I was crazy. So I told them and then they seemed to be confused. I mimicked the sun, which led them to conclude that I wasn’t crazy.

“If this is true we will assume we only have five days of sunlight left.” Mystic started. “We have a lot of work ahead of us. It takes our students two years to become fully trained.

“We don’t have two years. I just need basics really. Just to control my fire. I will find a way to learn the rest later. If you’re estimating five days then we should have enough time for me to learn the basics.”

“Come little phoenix, for such little time we have much to do.” Simmone said with a sigh.

“Wait,” Mystic said. “I have more news.”

“What is it?” I asked.

“Another Earthen has made it to Unhillia. He has a band of nobles from all of the Kingdoms rallying against the Masters. They mean war.”

“And who is the Earthen?” Simmone asked.

“He calls himself Andrew Rain.” I gasped. They looked at me.

“That’s my dad. I thought they were all dead. But he made it, and now-“

“Now he is trying to take the people out of the watch of the Masters. Making the Masters nothing but peasants with special gifts.”

My dad actually mad it? I wasn’t the only one who made it through the storm months ago? Now he was trying to make me and the other masters step down from years of tradition. Whoa majorly confusing.

“When is this battle supposed to take place?” Simmone asked.

“In five days.”

“Julian!” Simmone cried. A moment later he appeared.

“Yes my lady?”

“Take Miss Ember to her room. We will resume training no later than sun rise. She has learned much more than her fair share today.”

He walked me back. He didn’t ask he just kept me close and secure under his arm. He made me feel safe and wanted, unlike my earlier company of the other Masters. When we got back to the room Trianna wasn’t there.

“Where is she?” I asked.

“She went hunting. She said she was tired of everyone giving her meat that she could catch on her own. So she along with her dragon pride was shown a way out and in so she could hunt freely.” I nodded in response. “What’s wrong Em?”

“My- my dad is here.”

“You mean here? In Unhillia?”

“Yes.” I told him the story that Mystic had told Simmone and I.

“Wow, Em. What are you going to do?”

“What can I do?”

“If there is a battle all the Masters and the higher ranking Elementals will be called to battle along with the Six Kingdoms military to fight.”

“I don’t think I can fight my dad.”

“Do you know how to wield a sword?”

“Not really we never really got around to it.”

“Well I will tell Simmone that is something you are going to want to know.” He said. “Hey they’re calling me I got to go.”

“I don’t hear anything.” He smiled. “What?”

“It’s magic, I charmed this lower level to hear my name being called from anywhere.” He leaned down and gave me a kiss.

“What was that for?” I asked blushing.

“For being you.” He said.

“I have the magic ability too.”

“Oh yeah?” He asked.

“Bria.” I whispered lifting my hand in to the air. On my palm was an orb of white light.

His eyes brightened, “I’ll be back when I can Em.”

“Alright bye Julian.” I said.

“Bye Em.” He walked away then.

I thought of my day and the news I had been given. My dad was actually alive? Did he know I was the Fire Master? Why was he trying to degrade the Masters anyway? He always tried to be the best. Though he never went after Senators at home. I fell asleep thinking of the things that could have changed my dad. If he was actually changed that is.
