Introduction
Birds were chirping in the air around the clearingwhere some small children were sitting in a circle.
"So what are we going to do today?" Kayne, A small little boy of about five, broke the silence.
"I don't know, What should we do Kytara?" Dain asked the Little girl seated next to him, Dain was the oldest of the group, he was seven and very proud of it.
"How should I know? You guys are supposed to be the smart ones, isn't that what your always saying?"
She replied, with an edge of sarcasm in her voice. She was small for her age, she was six years old and normally very happy, always joking with the other kids. Kayne was a little different, he was normally very shy and quiet. Dain was a leader by nature so he always made the decisions for the group.
"Why don't we see if the water is clear today?" Kayne suggested.
"I don't know, that sounds kind of boring" Kytara sighed.
"Besides, we did that yesterday!" Dain piped in.
"Well, What should we do then Dy?"
"Lets go play with the foxes!"
"What do you think Kay? Should we?" Kytara asks Kayne with a slight smile.
"Okay...but...The adults better not see, we'll be in big trouble!" Kayne whispers.
"Oh, you're a baby! Kara, wanna go?" Dain sang happily.
The little group sang as they skipped down the path that would take them to the fox den.
Dain, Kytara, and Kayne were like every other child on the land of Edea, Except for their slightly pointed ears and angular faces, They were Elves. Their race was the only one that lived in solitude from the rest of the land, They didn't like the bustle of the of the cities where the humans and dwarves resided. They liked the calm of the forest cities in their own borders. They respected the nature and the animals. The children knew this and still they ran off to disturb the foxes in the glade near their home. Dain Sat down and played the mother fox as she pranced around the Glade, as graceful as any Elf could dream of being.
"Ummm...Dy?"
"What now Kay?"
"What was that sound?" He whispered.
"What Sound?" Dain asked Impatiently.
There was a rustle in the leaves surrounding the glade, Kayne looked up and Dain suddenly looked frightened. Kytara shook her head and waited. An Elf Strode out into the glade, glaring at the children.
"What have we told you kids, the foxes only tolerate so many visitors, if something happens to you now we would have no way of knowing about it, you need adult supervision out here, this is too far away from your homes.
"We're sorry, we just wanted to have fun Fin!" Kytara explained shyly.
"Ask someone next time to go with you!" Fin said hastily.
"Anyway, Dain, Your parents are looking for you, And yours are too Kytara! The Elders would like to see you Kayne, I've come to get you all and take you back, so come on!" Fin said in a melodic voice inherent to all elves.
The children went their separate ways once they got back to the city. Dain went home and so did Kytara.
Kayne followed Fin to the Elders central building. They walked into the building and stepped lightly into a dim-lit room filled with the Twelve Elders of Kaneha , the central city of the Elven lands.
"Step forward Orphan Kayne!" A powerful voice boomed across the room. Kayne stepped before the Elders and kneeled in front of the Head Elder.
"We got a message today...it has to do with your parents"
