"You little bitch!" The mans voice echoed through out the 9 year olds head as she just stood in front of him with a smile on her face. Kaitlyn knew her father was drunk since she could smell beer on his breath but she didn't care. She knew that when her dad would beat her a man would come to save her. She watched her father grab one of her mothers favorite glass and Kaitlyn quickly moved to get it out of his hand. "No!" She screamed at him but he threw her to the wall before throwing the glass at her. "You will not harm her!" A mans voice could be heard before the glass was caught. Kaitlyn laid on the ground unconscious as her father blinked before laughing. "Who are you to say that!" He yelled before grabbing another glass and threw it at the winged man. "I am her guardian." He said softly before he bent down and picked up the girl as the glass shattered against the wall."And you will not hurt her..." He looked down at Kaitlyn with a frown before glaring at the father before fading away.

Kaitlyn winced and groaned a little as she moved her hands to hold her aching head. "You are safe, Kaitlyn." Kaitlyn jumped and looked around. She didn't recognize the room she was in or who said that, all she knew was she was away from her drunk father. "W-who are you?" Her voice was shaken and soft as she looked around. "I have no name." She looked confused, how could no one have a name? "I'll call you...." She placed her right index finger to her lips as she began to think of a name. She wanted him to have a unique name. "Akia." She smiled and giggled into the darkness before she heard a chuckle. "Akia..." The black winged man moved to turn on a small lamp before he smiled softly at the girl. "I like it."

Akia moved to sit next to the small girl but she hoped down and let him sit before she climbed into his lap and smiled at him. Akia just watched her in amazement as Kaitlyn told him about her family and what it was like to have both her mother and father happy together. "My father wasn't always a bad man, Akia." She said softly as she moved to rest her body against his stomach and chest, Akia soon wrapped his arms around her to keep her against him. "After my mother died he just got lonely..." She mumbled softly. Akia nodded and looked around. The room wasn't anything special, the walls were black and worn out. All there was in the room were a bed, desk, and a small table to hold the lamp. "Akia..." He snapped out of his thoughts and looked down at the girl with a small smile. "Yes?" "Did you have a family?" The question made him freeze, his eyes slightly widened as he thought before he looked away from her, a black tear running down his cheek. "No. I have never had a family." Kaitlyn blinked and frowned before she moved onto her knees and placed her small hands on his cheeks, moving so that he looked at her as she soon smiled at him, wiping his tear away. "I can be your family now."

Those words hit him hard as more black tears ran down his face as he chuckled at Kaitlyn, wiping his tears away. His wings slowly moved around the two, covering them in a few loose, black, feathers. "I would love that....Kaitlyn."
