chapter one

Chapter One

It was the most atrocious moment in her life; Twinkle was flabbergasted by the turn of events. Her father whom she loved and admired was forcing her into the bondages of marriages with the foul goblin for the survival of the Kingdom.

Her father always said he loved her the most that he would lay his own life down for her. She was only seventeen; she was far too young to be prepared to lift such heavy burdens that accompanied marriage like the ticks to a rabid wolf.

She wished beyond all else to go to the human world and to the mer world. She refused, completely refused to wed the ugly creature. Nor did she wish to marry her other suitor her father had in his fogged up mind, the King of the Rats.

Not only was she rushed to a phase of her life she was utterly unprepared for; her only two options were a foul goblin and a disease-infected rat. No way in hell would she marry any of them, even if it meant the downfall of faerie.

She had trust in her father, he had hurt her with his decision but she thought it was possible to reason with her father, the new Galaxy King of faerie. He was as wise and just a king as he was a father.

But he always placed the Kingdom above all, apparently even above his own daughter. He was willing to give away his daughter to the King of the rats or the goblin commander, what danger could faerie be in to drive her father to such extremes.

Her father sat on his rose petal throne. Busy as usual issuing orders to his many servants, all while keeping a form of calmness and authority. The doors blew wide open with the ferocity of a thousand storms. Not even leaving time for her father to dismiss his servants she yelled angrily at him,  “ Father! I am not marrying that filth of a Black Rat or the hideous goblin commander!”

Servants in the chamber flinched at her pure anger, emanating from her entire body like lava bursting from a volcano. However her father turned to her with a diplomatic face and responded as calmly as the gentlest wind to the fiery rage of his daughter, “Twinkle darling, be reasonable. It is for the best interest of Faerie, do you truly believe it pleases me to give away my daughter, my beautiful daughter, to marry any of them.”

He walked down and put his hand on her shoulder in a manner meant to sooth her and said more sympathetically, “I do not, it is the last thing I want. But the survival of Faerie is on its knees, its head on the execution block. With but a command we can either be spared or be terminated.”

Twinkle refused to listen, she retorted selfishly, “ I don’t give a damn if its for the welfare of Faerie or for a piece of Kaya fruit, I shall not marry anyone by force!”

She turned around, ignoring the protestation of her father and marched thunderously out of the chamber. Her footsteps echoed like boulders rolling down a cliff. As she slammed the doors shut they quavered off its hinges, falling to the ground with a loud clang.

It was decided, she was to run away from her childhood, for she could not for a second imagine herself married to a rodent or that atrocious looking whom she could best describe as ugly.

She definitely did not wish to produce rat children, the mere contemplation of such a freakish act of nature sent shivers down her spine, like cold water splashed over her body.

With each step she became more determined to leave, as though each fall of her footsteps hammered the idea deeper and deeper in her mind until it could no longer be pried easily. She was walking to her bedchambers when she met her younger sister Starlight.

although starlight was younger than twinkle she was very wise
