The Unlikely Trio
The fight was over, I had come out of yet another scrap without a scratch. Turning to Bossman Kito, I yelled, " I could of taken em on I could, aye, I would ave killed em without mercy I would have."
Kito laughed strongly, the laugh could probably be heard from Faerie itself. He replied in a pure evil voice, " Samoset, you crack me up. I don’t know what I would do without you. I know you could have taken them on, I’d meant to send a gift to my friend up in the four seasons land and so I did, beautiful tree."
I grinned and added, " aye, ornaments and all. But they be lying right boss, ye don’t want me to protect her do ye?"
It was not Kito who answered but the King of the Galaxy himself, Tinkle’s father. He replied with a voice much stronger than had been expected, " He wants to survive, and I give him the option. In normal circumstances I would destroy Kito but this is not a safe world for my daughter. It is not a safe place for you either, so you will protect her in the human world"
The voice of the King was far too gentle, if he was reprising me why had he not used anger. I did not even try to contain his irritation as he replied, " Have ye all come immune to the imp zone, or maybe ye all sniffed too much of it and gone wonkers. Aye, mastupidstic King. What makes ye think I be wanting to babysit yer daughter in the filthy human world?"
Kito attempting to regain some foothold in the conversation bellowed in anger, " Because I want it to be so! You’ve done me great services but I would never hesitate to kill you if the need arose. This could be such a need."
This was much better, hatred and even a death threat. This was one of the reasons I ever even joined Kito, because he fed my thirst for negativity so well. I grinned at Kito and said, " Anything for ye boss, ye had but to say I am serious and I would ave been appeased that I would be." Turning to the princess I resumed, " Looks like it be ye and me eh, fun times"
Kito replied, " No, there will be more than you two. I do not trust you with her, I am sending you complete opposite to keep you in check"
I frowned in confusion, in my entire life I had never met my complete opposite. Suddenly it came, summoned by some psychic link the cupid appeared floating in front of me. It was the same size as me and yet was very different, dressed in a soft white gown he was in the form of a baby, in one arm he had a harp of extreme beauty. On his back he had a bow and arrows, designed with hearts upon them.
I despised him, the words coming out of him stung me more than anything else, "Quite a horrid place your majesty. Are you certain we can trust Twinkle’s life to this fiend."
I replied with pure malice, " imp, I be an imp! If we are to work together we be setting down some rules, am I right so far?"
We began to argue, us two opposites practically at each other’s throats with hate toward each other. Finally it was stopped by Twinkle as she yelled, " Enough, if you two are to protect me I want you two to get along, you two promise not to repeat this behaviour in the future?"
He did not even listen to the stupid cupid’s answer, the girl had used an angry voice and yet it was so angelic it could have been from an ancient elvish hymn from the human history. I replied, " I promise not to repeat that behaviour in the future."
With all of that settled , the King spoke once more, " You will need a human body in the world, Samoset has plenty for himself as does Trulips the cupid, but you only need one. Accept this final gift from your loving father."
He flew down to her, glowing with power he touched bare shoulder with his fingertip. A sharp long white glow filled the expanse, the sense of perfection was the worse feeling ever to take him. It was as though there was no point to live, for that short minute I seen heaven and hated it. I fed off chaos and this place gave none of it, it gave the contrary.
When the light left everything had changed, the expanse had become a clean and pure place. No more toxic air, the trees made of gold and diamond. Beautiful butterflies fluttered upon beautiful flowers. A perfect little utopia, but that was not the biggest change. Twinkle was now a human, her brown skin and hazel eyes did not take away any of her beauty. If I had been human I might have been aroused by the fact she was now bare, but that would be dealt with before we left.
I had no more reason to live, my people were now dead. My home was now ruined, transformed from its natural toxic condition to an unnatural perfection. I was all that remained of a once mighty race, I would bring honour to my people but I wanted to know something first. Turning to Kito I asked, " What’s in it for ye boss? Why ye helping the people who be the ones to destroy my own?"
Bossman Kito replied simply enough, " For survival, the world is decaying and the princess is the key. Protect her well."
