The full moon light gave everything in the forest a silver glow. It was so beautiful that I had to stop in the middle of my run to just take it all in. The trees seemed to dance in the moon light and the sky remained motionless. It was so peaceful. I felt calmed in a way that if I were to lay down in the grass I would fall into a deep sleep. It was like nothing had happened today and that tomorrow would be ok. Although I knew that as soon as the sun came up everything would come rushing back and I would have to face the Elders.
The Elders were just that, elders in the community, the wisest ofall in our race. They have been around since the beginning of time, some were even from before the beginning of time. They were the keepers of records and the mostimportant documents to our race. They were also the most trusted in our community.
Knowing all of this I still don't know why I had questioned them on theirchoice to remain part of the Distearate. The Distearate was an alliance held between the Lycans and the Vampires. It was created by Judis Escaliber, one of theElder Vampires, about1,000 years ago when we needed help to over throwPavani the Vampire who was leading Northern Russia at the the time. Pavani was a self centeredvampire that wantedto control the world, and he would have if it had not been for the brave Vampires and Lycans that risked thier livesfor the greatergood. Pavani was brought down by the Distearate and killed soon after. After the over throw of Pavani the Lycans begain to turn on the Vampire race causing a rift to grow between the two races.
I questioned the Elders because I didn't understand why they would want to stay in an alliance with the Lycan whoturned on them. Now I have to go and explain myself to theElders. I dreaded this so much because my grandfather Lukus was an Elder He was the only one in my family that I could go to when I needed a friend. Now the idea of me going against hischoice was sickening. I didn't want to upset him with my foolishness, but for now I will put that behind me and enjoy the night air.
I started to run again and this time I didn't stop the gaze out in the sky. I was trying to run away from the thought of upseting my Grandfather and the rest of the Elders. I ran for miles not stopping to see where I was going, and before I knew it I had tripped and fell over something that was laying on the forest floor.
"You clumsy Dolt can't you see that I was lying here!" A strange voice shouted at me.
"I am sorry I was running and I wasn't watching where I was going. I didn't mean to." I stammered out
"Well, that much is apparent what I don't get is why you are running through Lycan territory." The strange voice asked.
