It was late at night on the military base in Escardius, the main city on Lyrandona. Darshareth staggered into his room, he managed to reach the bed and collapsed onto his back. Grabbing hold of the knife in his chest, he slowly pulled it out. Looking up, he saw Isharlan stood in the doorway.
    “Another bad fight Darshareth?”
“For the Yarhag that took me on it was, pass me that box, let’s get this fixed”
Picking up the box, Isharlan sat on the bed and looked at the wound in Darshareth’s chest.
“Looks like he severed your neurus circuit, strange he knew the one place that can cause you pain”
Darshareth opened the box, took out a small instrument and handed it to Isharlan.
“You don’t mind fixing it do you?”
“Are you sure you don’t want me to fetch Jassori?”
“Hell no, she maybe the cybertech, but she’s a sadist at heart, I want to stop the pain, not increase it”
    Isharlan laughed.
“All right, I’ll give it my best shot”
He placed one hand either side of the wound and carefully inserted the instrument. Activating the switch, there was a brief smell of burning, Darshareth swore under his breath. Isharlan slowly withdrew the instrument.
“Run a circuit test, see how it feels”
    Darshareth initiated a system check.
“Who need the cybertech, thanks Isharlan, that’s functioning within parameters”
Isharlan took another instrument out of the box with a flat metal plate on the end. Placing it across the wound, he sealed the cut.
“Now would you like to tell me why you were in a fight with a Yarhag?”
“Do I really need to justify my actions? They’re the scum of the universe what more needs to be said”
“Was he doing something specific to annoy you or did you just decide to have a fight?”
“I’d just landed my warpflyer, in the secure zone for a change, I went over to speak to one of the guards, turned round and that damn Yarhag was all over my craft. I confronted him, he said he was admiring the technology…with a kit of tools…”
“So you couldn’t just call the guards and have him removed?”
“Isharlan, he was damn well going to take my warpflyer apart, I merely took preventative action”
    “How far did you go?”
    Darshareth grinned.
“I could never resist that weak spot they have, you know where their feeding tube joins the middle of the spine…”
    “You disconnected his feeding tube?”
“Enough of the questions Isharlan, unless you’re pulling rank on me, which for a Yarhag isn’t justified”
“For one Yarhag maybe, but what’s your total so far for this month?”
“I stopped counting at six…what’s with all the questions, he stabbed me damn it”
“I’ve been receiving complaints from the Yarhag Minister, so we don’t like them, but we need to trade with them and they only come to Lyrandona once a year. So just back off all right?”
    “Are you ordering me?”
“Yes Darshareth, I am. And for the next week you’re on training detail, understood?”
    “You’re grounding me? Why?”
“To remind you who’s in charge round here, now get some rest, you’ll enjoy working with the cadets for a change!”
Isharlan laughed as he left the room.
