A poet once wrote:
Out of the darkness that covers me,
Black is the pit, from pole to pole
I thank the god, what every be
For my unconquerable soul.
Was this what Tomigin wanted from Talon? Thirteen hundred years will pass before her life and times will judge her deeds. She does not age nor does her life find meaning. Only her thoughts could always go back to a time before the dragons, to be free to find happiness real happiness. The tension over the years was getting to Tomigin. Talon never spoke to him, of what had happened on her quest. She never really tried to spoke to Tomigin. Only the request of the elders of the world would come and speak to her of these needs. He was angry at himself for his need to have her with him. When he moods were foul, he was sitting with Starhawk, she comforted him and loved him for what she knew of him. Talon was his child from the very beginning. Origin, fathered this child, he would never let it been known to her nor let her go. Tomigin loved Talon more than he would let on, she was his life just as Starhawk was his life. Though he spoke to her as a being inferior to himself, Tomigin never shown her any affection, no love, Talon was just a guardian in Tomigins’ eyes.
The immortals became the extension of the dragons and their worth, a necessary event to help the world and mortal man.
To become an immortal was one of the traits that belonged to the dragons, and the mire breath of a dragon can turn an unborn child into an immortal. The dragons’ kiss. The magic came to the dragons’ when Tomigin took the fruit of eternal life from the Griffin.
The dragons met in the place of solitude and pondered the deed to make things right, changed the course of history and their tradition. A plan was set forth and the quest would begin. The one that would be chosen must be a strong and kind, for the child would become the savory or destroyer of mankind. Only one more task, and they would meet.
The dragons of the Realm, wanted a request, that one of them would become human, for the chance to become the barer of the men-children. To give up being a dragon for even one day, was a choice that Tomigin didn’t want them to make. The young could transform between dragon and human. They had a choice to remain human or dragon. That secret was not allowed nor told between the older dragon. He told them it would put a strain on their everlasting life. Tomigin feared he would lose the young dragons if they knew of this power, their numbers were getting smaller with each passing century. Only the young, were given tasks, the heart of every dragon could move between the world. The head of all the dragons, Tomigin, would be the one to choose whom or what would be conceived, the child or a dragon. The decision would be in a forth night. Tomigin knew that Bayshar was strong and had proven himself many times over, even when he was held a prisoner of Asian Bey. A payment was make to the ruler for the release of Bayshar, which Asian Bey did not do, but held the dragon for more money and power. Tomigin vowed that an end would come, and ransom would be returned. The one that was chosen was Bayshar, the white dragon from the deserts of the burning sun. He was young and strong and mostly wanted to do the conception. He was very fond of Talon and was always at her side, they grew close over the years and spoke often of their friendship and they love for both were strong. This bond was what Tomigin had hoped for, or was it more. A new beginning for the Rim, and the dragons and the world of peace they held. Tomigin told Bayshar that he had only a short time, to stay in human form no more than one night would mean he could never return. What he spoke, Bayshar listens, what Tomigin forgot to mention was the lie he was saying. A dragon from the Rim could change whenever they wanted, with no fear of being held in one state of being, he only stressed, was for one night only. Tomigin held his power over the Rim as Lord of the Realm. Tomigin didn’t tell Bayshar he was born in the Realm.
The waterfall that covered the entrance where Shadow had changed forms was also the spot that Talon chooses to setups her camp. This was a place she could think of things that trouble her mind. Whenever she felt lost or unsure, she came to the waterfall to be alone, to think, to cry. A place, spend time together, being closer to each another, free to say what was on their minds, or just laugh at funny things. As Talon looked up at the stars a voice called to her, “may I come near the fire?” Shadow said. “I don’t mean to fright you.”
