"Dude nachos might as well be your best friend, " Carmen said fixing Shane's jacket. Shane laughed, "Suuuure. So, where did you get that big bag from again?" Carmen rolled her eyes, " The market so we could sneak food into movies and stuff. Maybe steal from another ice cream stand." Shane gave her a nacho, "Consider this a happy thirteenth birthday gift." She took it, "Better than my eighth."
Shane looked baffled, "Why?" She sighed, "You ate my cake, popped my balloons, and streaked in the backyard!" Shane turned red, "Now it's comming back to me. But I promise, no streaking this year for sure." They walked into Central Park. Carmen pulled out a bright yellow blanket and spread it over the grass. They both sat indian style on it. "I hate nachos," Shane gave her the nachos. "I'll pass," Carmen said and put the nachos on the blanket.
Shane laid on the blanket. "How come nothing exciting ever happens here?" Carmen asked. Shane shrugged, "Ya know, ever since we were kids you've always been talking about magic. Do you still believe in Santa?" Carmen glared at him, "No Shane, I don't believe in Santa." He shrugged, " Okay...how about Peter Pan?" Carmen playfully punched him, "Not the tooth fairy either." They sat there and laughed.
"My parents went at it again yesterday," Carmen whispered. Shane slouched, "About?" Carmen flipped her hair, "Well Mom was like, ' Carmen needs money for soccer this year.' Then Dad said, ' Why don't you ask that other man.' Then Mom started going on about how he acuses her of dating Mr. Linerson." Shane started laughing, "Mr. Linerson? Well, she did stay late on that PTA meeting." Carmen gave him a look, " I don't see how talking about school lunches can lead to a nice dinner at Red Lobster!" Shane shrugged, "Never know. Any way, remember on your fifth birthday was the day we met. So happy Best Friendaversary!"
Carmen threw a nacho at him, " Yeah well just to let you know we became best friends the day before my fifth birthday. That's how you ended up the only six year old at my fifth party. So you have a bad memory." Carmen folded her arms and faced the opposite way. "Aww come on Carmen you know I have a short attention spand and memory!" Shane said. Carmen didn't even notice him speaking. Shane started tickling her sides. Carmen rolled on the grass laughing. "Stop! Stop!" she laughed. Shane didn't stop, "Not until you forgive me." Carmen rolled onto his lap, "Okay I forgive you!" Shane stopped.
Shane looked at Carmen wiping her eyes on his lap. "How did you know I was ticklish!" she asked. Shane shrugged, "Your mom." Carmen got up from Shane's lap, "What else did she tell you?" Shane wrapped his arm around Carmen, "Carmen my good friend, she told me things I already knew." Carmen laid her head on Shane's shoulder and yawned. Shane blushed, "C-Carmen." She looked up, "Yeah Shane." Shane looked at her, " Carmen I-"
Just then a black rope wrapped around Carmen. "What's going on!?!" she screammed. The rope pulled her up to a roof top. "Carmen!" Shane screammed after her. A man with huge black hings help Carmen close to him. "Aaaa!!" she screammed. The deamon looked coldly at Shane. " Shane we talk at last," he snarled. Shane stood up, "Who are you!?!" The deamon laughed darkly, " Shadow." Carmen looked up at him, "Let...me...GO!!!!" He glared at her, "Shut up you twit!" Carmen quieted. "What do you want with her!?!" Shane yelled. Shadow put a strand of Carmen's hair behind her ear, "She is the key to you heart is she not?"
Shane blushed. "Yes it's all over your face. If you want her back... you'll have to come get her," Shadow said as he made a portal apeared behind him. "Shane you better come get me because I lo-" Carmen and Shadow disappeared into the portal. "I will Carmen!" he yelled into the sky.
