Chapter 1
The man paced up and down his bedroom in his dressing gown, his wife and a man in a cloak standing close by.
“ Are you quite sure?” The man asked.
The cloaked man nodded solemnly.
The man in the dressing gown seemed to start breathing heavily and threw the tray that had been sitting on his bed at a blue tapestry on the wall.
“ Really, dear.” the wife said appearing to buff her nails.
The man was clearing fuming. His face was reaching an alarming colour of red.
“ You may go now, thank you for the information.” said the wife calmly to the cloaked man adding a fake smile. The cloaked man bowed and exited the room.
The wife of the man strode next to her husband before sitting on a fine chair next to him.
The man was much older than the woman and was largely less attractive. However, she had very pointed features which seemed to show a snootiness of character.
“ I don’t know how you can be so calm about this! You do realise that this could wreck everything..”
“ My dear, you are next in line to the thrown, you are safe.”
“ I am not the dead king’s son though am I !”
“ But this child this…man speaks of was born out of wedlock. Surely..”
“ No Sylvia it makes no difference.. A king’s son is a king’s son.”
“ How do you not know that this a lie? A ploy from your enemies to scare you?”
“ Mr Wood is a trusted spy, he would not lie to me. Besides I knew of my uncle’s affairs.”
“ Well surely if you didn’t know of this child then many others will not have.”
“ What if the child knows? What if its his secret plan to rise up weeks before the coronation and steal the crown right from under our feet. We must do something drastic”
“ Oh Fredrick darling don’t be so melodramatic.”
“ Listen to me woman! Do you want all these jewels, fine clothes and fancy living to disappear. If this boy becomes king we lose everything and there will be no more power.”
“Of course not but what if he knows nothing of this and isn’t even a threat.”
“ Well at least this way there will be no chance of him finding out.. Ever.”
Sylvia bit her lip “ Perhaps you are right. What do you plan to do?”
“ I’m not sure. A death would be scandalous if linked back to me… but there are ways..”
“Oh husband you are devious.”
“ I hear the boy is of an impressionable age.”
“ Mr Wood said he was only 17.”
“ Indeed a perfect age! I will seek out the white witch and order her to help me.”
“The white witch? But she died years ago. What can she do?”
“ She is dead? Well.. There must be others like her, her family. I will find a female from her line, and when I do…she will be key in my plan.”
“But how husband?”
“ It is a well known fact , that the women of the White witches have great powers of seduction. I believe she will come in handy.”
