They went back to the cabin that night and Alexander gave Isabella his bed and he lay under the stars.
She couldn’t sleep. Neither could he.
Luna watched over till morning. Keeping her small black eyes on the restless Isabella.
Morning came and both woke up to the loud song of birds. Alexander cooked some vegetables and served them to Isabella.
They ate in silence. Alexander watched her.
“ You seem sad.”
Isabella shook her head.
“ Smile.” Alexander said sweetly.
Isabella looked away. She couldn’t smile. She couldn’t go through with this.
“ Oh I see. Then I suppose I will have to give you something to make you smile?” with that Alexander ran off into the woods behind his house and produced a small white daisy. Isabella looked at it awkwardly and Alexander seemed disappointed. He began to pace back and forth.
“I know… I’ll make you laugh? I know how to entertain animals… humans are a different subject altogether.”
He placed his finger on his lip. He seemed to nod at some invisible entity beside him.
He then began to dance. Very Strangely. It was something like a jig and a Russian folk dance mixed into one. By the time he was jumping around and leaping into the air she couldn’t help but begin laughing. An ear to ear smile appeared on Alexander’s face.
“I’m not a complete failure then.” he laughed. “Dance with me?”
He bowed quite low and held out his hand. Isabella looked unsurely at his hand for a moment before grabbing onto it.
“There’s no music” Isabella said softly.
“ Ah but we have the birds song.. And the sound of nature. Its much more interesting.”
Alexander pulled Isabella closer into him and placed his hands on her waist. She put her hands on his shoulder. They began moving slowly.
“Not bad… for a forest child” Isabella smirked.
“ Hey.. I do know some things about human culture.” Alexander smiled.
“I’m pleasantly surprised.” Isabella said happily.
Alexander spun her out of arms and then back in.
“Impressive.”
Alexander had a massive grin on his face.
“Am I the sort of girl you imagined?” Isabella asked suddenly.
“Much better.”
“ Good to know.” Isabella smiled.
“Forgive my bluntness but, you’re the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen.”
“I’m probably one of the only girls you’ve ever seen.” Isabella said.
“Does that matter?”
“Not really.”
“Can I kiss you?” Alexander whispered.
Isabella stayed quiet for a few seconds. Watching Alexander’s bright brown eyes widen.
“…yes."
