Ch. 1 Loneliness
Snow fell to the ground making its blanket over the ground thicker. I watched as darkness flooded the heavens frigid air rustled my hair as I crept through the night. People passed the alley that I was concealed in not knowing the path they were taking led only to casualty. I crouched down at the entrance waiting for the right time. I finally saw my opening and dashed out of the alley into the street and chased after my prey. People and cars were a blur my speed was increasing by the second as I closed in on the night beast. A growl escaped my throat as I bit onto the demon Shade it screeched out in pain. My claws ripped away its decaying flesh the black blood staining my snout. After my meal I leaped onto a building and lifted my head up to the sky and a song howled out of me. I opened my eyes and sat up to look around the room. Sweat dripped onto my hand. “Again with that nightmare.” I whispered getting out of bed and walking to the bathroom. Though the room was pitch black everything was visible like I had night goggles on. My hand gripped my dagger lying next to my toothbrush. I walked back into my room dagger still in hand and changed clothes. I sheathed my dagger and walked over to the door of my balcony. As I opened the door I put on my mask while letting the light cover up the darkness that had settled in my room. Walking over to the railing I looked down at cars and people rushing around the city. My mismatched eyes narrowed as I heard the pain of the forest that surrounded the city of Lekuion. I jumped onto the railing my feet landing quietly. I crouched and looked down once again making no one was watching. A breeze of cool air shifted my hair from its place. Different smells rushed into my nose as I sat silently waiting to make sure no one looked up. I jumped off the railing onto the house across from mine. As I landed something was watching me waiting to catch me off guard. I slid down the step roof into a back alley and continued forward. I reached a six story building and opened the front door. “Good morning Mr. Yusire.” The receptionist said from her seat at the front desk. Another door stood in front of me locked. I turned toward a security device mounted next to the door. “Useless piece of shit.” I mumbled under my breath as I placed my hand on it waiting for it check my identity. Soon the sound of the all the locks clicking and clanking filled my ears. I pulled open the big steel door with ease and closed it behind me. My footsteps were silent, as I walked down the dark hall cell doors on both sides of me containing the secrets of this company. I stopped and sniffed the air the scent of blood coming from within one of the cells. My eyes looked at the end of the hall a door that was lit with red light. I walked up to the door and typed in the password killingthedemonsofhell into the electronic lock. Once again the clicking and clanging of locks unlocking filled my ears. I pulled open the door and continued walking until I reached the door at the end. I knocked and waited for an answer. “Come in its open.” A man answered from inside. I opened yet another door and approached a big desk sitting in front of a huge widow over looking the city. “Ah, my favorite employee has finally arrived.” The old man sitting at the desk said with a smile. “What job do you have for me to do?” I asked walking over to the window to look at the corrupted city. “We need you to enroll into a school that has secret plans and murder the teachers and other employees of that particular school.” My boss said. I turned slightly my eyes narrowing again. “I must warn you that there is one person that I’m looking for and if see that person I will kill them with no hesitation.” I said in a harsh tone and walked out of the room. As I walked back through the halls blood rushed through my nose. “Foolish souls.” I murmured. I continued out of the building and walked down the sidewalk ignoring the stare of others. The school came into view as I turned a corner. I stopped looking ahead of me the sounds of laughter filled my ears. I couldn’t explain why my senses were alert until I was eleven; they had been that way since I was little. “Why send me on this job he knows I hate school.” I said while taking off my mask and walking into a store. I entered the restroom and changed into the school uniform. I walked out while pulling on my black hoody. People turned their attention toward me as I rushed by them at inhuman speed. I was in-front of the school shortly the other students watching me. I made my way into the school approaching the front desk. “Yes, how may I help you?” the girl asked not removing her eyes from her computer. “I’m a new student.” I said a hint of annoyance in my voice. She looked up and her cheeks turned a shade of red. “You must be Nathan Parkinson.” She said. “Yes that’s me.” I lied that was an alias my real name Zero Yusire. “Here’s your schedule and your books.” She said handing me the peace of paper and stack of books. I turned and walked down the hallway to my locker and put my books in. My eyes narrowed something was very wrong here the students haven’t come in yet. I walked towards a classroom and opened it so it was cracked. I peeked in and it was full of students but how. Closing it quietly I walked back to my locker and pulled out my book for my first class. As I entered the room swiftly the teacher stopped talking. “Ah, Nathan I was told you would be a tad late.” He said his eyes studying me. “What are you wearing?” he asked sternly. I narrowed my eyes “A jacket.” I said negatively. He didn’t respond just glared at me and pointed to a seat next to the window. I took my seat and he continued teaching. My eyes wandered to other students I felt eyes on me and could hear whispers, but it was more like regular talking to me. “Who would join school this late?” I heard. My black bangs fell in-front of my eyes. Soon school came to an end and I walked out to the courtyard. My senses even more alert now. I took off full speed into the woods running I didn’t need money I could easily kill a deer with no problem or steal that was one specialty I had. My occupation was a murderer I killed who I was asked to kill with no question earning hundreds even thousands of dollars. I sped up everything flying past me. My boss was proud to call me his best assign when around his fellow companies. My main goal was destroy what had destroyed my family. I jumped out into a clearing and down a dirt path going up to a small town. I past through it leaving the occupants stunned and confused. When I was smaller I was the top in my class good at anything and everything. When the kids would race I always came into first even against our track coach. My parents never told me why I was so fast or had complex senses. My nightmares dreams what ever you want to call them have haunted me since birth. The meaning of them… unknown to me. I tried to figure out what they mean but I didn’t until I was eleven. My speed kept increasing I was not going back to that school it was not right. My mind would tell me if something was not right and I never doubted it. I slowed to a walk as I came upon a huge city. My thoughts of this place were good so I decided to stay. I walked into the city quietly carefully studying the inhabitants. People scurried to finish their shopping since it was apparently getting late. I sniffed the air no blood rushed through my nose just the smell of food. My thoughts were still peaceful about this place if something was wrong about it I would have known by now. I was defiantly staying here. I knew my boss would grow angry trying to find me he was suspicious of how I acted and how I was so good. He asked how I was better than a full grown man when I was only nine years old. He had a right to ask I was stronger, faster, stealthier, and smarter than any of the rest. My sight was perfect and so were my other senses no one could sneak up on me. My senses are even better even now I can still hear the sound of running deer scared by me rushing past them. I smirked I loved running at high speed so to everything around me I’m just a blur or a strong gust of wind. I pulled my bag over my shoulder and headed for a hotel. As I entered people in the lobby turned and stared. Girls gasped and boys watched as I made my way to the main desk. “I want a room on a high floor with a balcony.” I said with my eyes close. I heard the receptionist look up. “Yes, of course sir it’ll cost $325.” She said I knew she was blushing. I opened my eyes pulled out my wallet hand her $400. “Keep the change I know they don’t pay you what you deserve.” I said quietly while she handed me my room key. I was gone before she could say thank you. My room was large and like I asked for it had a balcony. Wind blew outside making the trees bend. A storm is coming I thought to myself. The smell of rain rushed through my nose as I opened the sliding door that led to the balcony. The sound of cars filled my ears and footsteps echoed in the night. My eyes scanned the night sky. Stars shined against the midnight sky airplane lights twinkling.
