The Ocarina Ruins Battle

Timaneus slowly opened his eyes, he was lying in the camp. Fleur was pawing the ground near him. Timaneus stretched his arms and slowly got up and brushed some dust off his breeches. Fleur whinnied happily then trotted back to Norman and the two horses rested near a small tree. Timaneus picked up his slingshot and then grabbed his money pouch and emptied the coins into Misam’s pouch then he put his slingshot in it and collected some stones and placed them in the pouch as well. Peeking inside the make-shift hut, he saw the peregrine falcon still unconscious. Timaneus walked out of the forest and retrieved his jewablade from the plain. He checked the dead body of the Katakana but Timaneus found no plans. Timaneus looked around his eyes searching for the boar. The plans must be on the boar then Timaneus saw some tracks. With his eyes following the tracks Timaneus saw that the boar had charged into forest. Timaneus went back and saddled Fleur then he galloped away and followed the tracks into the forest. The boar wasn’t too difficult to track it had left obvious marks. Some small plant life had torn to bits and even a few small trees had been felled. Timaneus guided Fleur at an easy pace, sooner or later the boar would have to stop and rest. After about an hour of tracking the boar, Timaneus urged Fleur and the energetic horse bolted off galloping at a swift pace. Timaneus kept his eyes firmly ahead, if they followed the damage they would find the boar quickly then squinting every now and then trying to see some tracks.

Fleur galloped quickly but became tired after a while, the tired horse panted and slowed down to a brisk trot. Timaneus hopped off and tied Fleur to a tree, then he dashed off running quickly. Timaneus reached a small pond where the boar was drinking, the boar didn’t look angry anymore it actually looked pretty innocent just drinking. Timaneus cautiously moved over and reached for the pouch. Before he touched it the boar snorted angrily and shook it horns and head. Timaneus jumped back startled, Timaneus looked around and saw an apple tree. Taking his slingshot Timaneus shot a stone at it. Timaneus hadn’t counted on luck but the stone hit the apple and the apple dropped to the ground. Timaneus picked up the apple and moved slowly towards the boar. He placed it onto the ground about three feet away from the boar then hid behind a bush. The boar glared at the apple for a few moments thinking then it moved over and chomped on the apple. Quietly Timaneus moved over and grabbed the pouch, moving back he bolted back into the forest, breathing heavily Timaneus opened the pouch.

Timaneus sighed with relief it was the battle-plans, walking back to where Fleur was tied Timaneus grabbed the reins and Fleur slowly trotted back towards their camp. When he got back Timaneus ate a quick meal and then tied Fleur and Norman to a tree each. It was time to break into the Ocarina Ruins. As the moon shone brightly Timaneus slowly walked towards a boulder on the plains and hid behind it. He scanned the Ocarina Ruins with his eyes trying to find another entrance. Timaneus heard grumbling and talking nearby, he whipped his head around and saw three Orks walking towards the Ocarina Ruins holding two sacks each. “We gotta throw these in the garbage in the disposal area where the slavers will feed it to the slaves,’ grumbled an Ork, “Yeh I know but these damn bags are heavy, where is the place where we put it?” replied another Ork. “I’ll show you,” said the third Ork. Timaneus hid behind the rock again then made up his mind. Timaneus crept after the three Orks, he’d gotten better at stealth. Misam had lectured him about the pitiful performance he’d done when they had been creeping towards the Ork lair. Timaneus followed the Orks, the Orks were walking slowly burdened by heavy sacks, soon though the Orks stopped. It was a hole was a flap, “We’ll stuff em here,” growled an Ork, “The collector for the food will find it.” “Yeh,” growled the other Ork opening the flap and dumping the sacks in. Timaneus quickly scanned the area with his eyes and saw a boulder. He ran over and ducked behind it, the last Orks stuffed his sacks of food in and they departed. Timaneus watched the Orks until they were out of sight Timaneus ran and opened the flap and peered in. It was a small room with a door and many sacks of food. Timaneus examined the room then jumped in. He landed heavily on a bag of potatoes (By the feel and smell of it rotten and half-eaten) Timaneus got up there was so many sacks there that they covered the whole floor and rose to about three feet high. Timaneus lost balance and landed on another sack. Instead he crawled to the door. The door was made of steel, Timaneus swore he’d thought the door would be made of wood. Steel was quite resistant to magic, it took many spells to melt steel and Timaneus didn’t want to exhaust himself so early. I’ll just have to wait and this place stinks he thought sitting on a sack. Timaneus tapped his foot waiting, he was in the middle of the room, he’d hear if an Ork was approaching. After a while Timaneus was lying stomach down on a few sacks he was bored and the room really stank. Timaneus heard the flap opening he looked up.

A sack came tumbling down, Timaneus cried out and tried to get out of the way. The sack landed on him and pinned him down. Struggling he pushed the sack off rubbing his back. Sighing he started to relax again when three more sacks came tumbling down. Timaneus pointed his hand at a sack “Rocila,” a blue ball shot from his hand hitting the sack. The cloth melted away, and many oranges went flying everywhere. One hit Timaneus in the face, another hit him in the chest splattering juice all over his shirt and then some other landed at his feet and some hit the walls. Timaneus caught a sack, it was really heavy What do they put in these? He thought throwing the sack onto the ground the last came down and knocked Timaneus on the back sending him flying forward. He hit a bag and lay there. After a few minutes Timaneus grabbed a sack then slowly pushed himself up and sat down panting. Timaneus walked over and sat against the wall, he smelt like rotten fruit and veggies. Finally Timaneus heard footsteps, “It’s about time,” he said readying his weapons. Timaneus heard a key being inserted and placed a stone from his pouch onto the horsehair on the slingshot. As the Ork came in and picked up a sack Timaneus fired the stone. The Ork was only around two metres away, the stone thudded in the Ork’s head between the eyes. It howled and clutched its face, Timaneus punched him in the head and the man dropped to the ground. “Sorry if you don’t get your food-collecting wages today,” said Timaneus taking the key and locking the door. I am sure it’ll find loads of food to survive in there thought Timaneus It needs to see how bad the slave’s food is.

Timaneus walked out of the hallway and into another, there was an Ork busily stacking boxes. Timaneus moved closer then took a stone from his pouch and fired the stone wit slingshot. The stone hit the Ork at the back of the head, it roared and stumbled towards Timaneus with a dagger in his hand. Timaneus unsheathed his sword from the sheath hanging from his back and charged. He easily disarmed the Ork, the dagger was no match for a jewablade and knocked the Ork out. As the body thudded onto the ground Timaneus threw the slingshot onto the ground. “Pitiful maybe I should learn to use a bow,” said Timaneus unlocking a door with the key he’d stolen. Timaneus pushed and door opened and Timaneus peeked inside. It was a storage room, Timaneus walked inside and checked some boxes. There was a long bows and recurve bows, Timaneus picked up the longbow and tried pulling the string. It was too big for him so he checked the recurve bow. Timaneus hadn’t always likes bows but travelling and training had changed his mind. Picking up a quiver with about thirty arrows, Timaneus slung the quiver over his back and opened the door. Misam had taught Timaneus how to use a bow when Timaneus had been twelve. Timaneus hoped that he still could fire arrows okay. He picked up an arrow, Timaneus didn’t feel guilty for stealing the weapon the Orks had killed his family and he would use their own weapons to kill them. Timaneus nocked an arrow and sheathed his blade. Pushing open the door he crept towards Orks listening to their conversations. He heard nothing important at first but then as he crept quietly (It was very hard and took over an hour) towards the more wealthy Orks quarters. Timaneus inspected the room it had three beds and two tables and fifteen chairs. A vase of flowers was on the table, he heard footsteps approaching, Timaneus jumped into a large cupboard and shut the door. Some Orks opened the door and came into the room Timaneus was in. “What’s the news Frank?” asked an Ork. “Well we lost that other human but you know the one we captured?” replied another Ork, “Yeh,” replied a third Ork “What will happen to him I want them to torture him.” “I don’t know,” said an Ork “They’ll decide tomorrow at the court,” “What of those battle-plans, Mortis’s furious. Fidelis said they’ll be here by today and they haven’t arrived.” “Nothing we can do about that,” replied an Ork “I think we better go, tomorrow we’ll see what happens to that human.” “Aye,” replied the Orks and walked out. Timaneus breathed in and out then he waited, he thought no one was here anymore. Timaneus pushed open the cupboard door and sighed it was clear.

Quickly he crept out of the room and towards another door. Timaneus strung the bow hoping he could still fire okay. He nocked an arrow and pushed open the door. An Ork had been having a quiet nap when he heard the door open. Timaneus fired the arrow aiming for the Ork’s chest, Timaneus’s aim was off. The arrow hit the Ork in the stomach. The Ork grunted and stood up and ripped the arrow out. The arrowhead tore out blood and some of its intestine. Timaneus examined the room there was no weapon so the Ork was unarmed. Grunting the Ork picked up a chair and threw it, Timaneus ducked and the chair hit the wall and fell to the ground. Timaneus nocked another arrow and moved closer, the Ork lumbered over rasing its fist. Timaneus released the bowstring firing the arrow into the Ork’s chest. Screaming the Ork fell back and landed on the ground, Timaneus opened the cupboard and found a small treasure chest hidden under a pile of clothes and rags. Timaneus tried to open it but was locked, “Rewalo!” he muttered. The lock slid off and Timaneus opened the chest, there was a key and a map of the Ocarina Ruins.

Sitting down he examined the map, he was on the third floor. The prison section was on the fifth floor. Timaneus guessed Misam was held there and the court place was on the ground floor next to the court was the punishment arena. It was an arena where the Orks watched the victim die, either a quick execution or taking a boar and letting the human fight the boar unarmed. In some special cases the leader of the Orks sometimes killed the victim.

Timaneus folded the map and tucked it into his pouch, emptying the stones out he then shoved the Ork’s corpse under the bed and opened the door. He checked that the coast was clear before creeping across the hallways and corridors. Soon he found a set of stairs that led to the fourth floor. Dashing up he nearly ran into an Ork, the Ork bellowed “HUMAN COME INTRUDER!!” Timaneus swore so much for stealth. Three Orks dashed towards the Ork to help. Timaneus jumped down a few stairs and nocked an arrow. The four Orks grabbed their weapons, Timaneus pulled an arrow out of the quiver and fired. The arrow hit the Ork in the leg but Timaneus had been aiming for the chest, One things for sure thought Timaneus I need practice, a lot of practice. The Orks came stomping down the stairs, Timaneus unstrung his bow and put it back in the quiver. Before the Orks reached him he ran off, running quickly he dodged some barrels and was sprinting trying to find another set of stairs. Four Orks was also too much for one human, they could’ve encircled him and Timaneus would’ve gotten killed easily. So as much as he hated it he was running away from the fight. The Orks weren’t very fit so they fell behind, Timaneus looked back and was still running when he collided with an Ork tending to a kettle. They both fell to the ground, they Ork regained some sort of composure quickly. Timaneus rubbed the front of his head. The Orks raised his fist “WHAT THE HELL IS YOUR PROBLEM HUMAN?!” then smashed it into Timaneus’s stomach. Pain shot down his stomach winding him, growling the Ork kicked him viciously in the side. Timaneus rolled down and hit a pile of stacked barrels. They came tumbling down some landing on Timaneus’s already injured side and some just rolling away. “Hmmm how should I kill you?” the Ork said slowly walking over “Maybe I’ll snap your neck,” he was about six feet away and approaching quickly. Timaneus tried to get up but his body wouldn’t move, the Ork reached him and punched him into the face.

Timaneus slid across the floor and into hit his back on the wall. He tried to support himself but the Ork was upon him. The Ork punched him in the stomach again then hit him in the face. Timaneus cried out and spat a bit of blood onto the ground. The Ork raised his fist and punched. Timaneus ducked and placed his hands in front of him “Terai” he yelled. The Ork grunted and slid to the floor. Timaneus fell back tired and weak. C’mon you’re stronger than this he thought trying to get up. Slowly he pushed himself forward and tried to stand but then pitched forward and landed on his knees. His face was really painful and his stomach was paining him bad. Knowing the Orks would be here soon Timaneus slowly crawled towards a door not caring what was inside he just needed some place to rest for a while. To his relief it was empty, Timaneus sat up against a corner and wiped some blood off his chin. “Damn those Orks,” he mumbled placing his bow on the floor. He placed his sword on the floor and picked an arrow and nocked it. “This is so much harder than I thought,” he panted. Nope I shouldn’t take the stairs I need another way he thought, Timaneus began examining the wall trying to take his mind off the pain. The stone bricks were big they were about a metres across and two and a half feet tall. His hand found a brick that was slightly bulging out of the wall. What the? thought Timaneus he tried to push it in but nothing happened. Timaneus pulled at the brick and it came off. Timaneus dropped the brick and examined what was behind. What had looked like one brick was actually three. Timaneus had pulled the main bit out and there were two other pieces to make sure that the bricks on top wouldn’t come tumbling down. But what was concealed was important, it was a flap.

Timaneus pushed open the flap and peered in. It was a passageway to somewhere, shrugging he crawled in taking his bow and closed the flap. Crawling quietly Timaneus soon was at a place where several other passageways led away. Timaneus didn’t know which one to go to, he crawled towards one. Turning his head right Timaneus yelled out and scrambled back. It was a skeleton, next to the skeleton was a leather bag and a envelope. Timaneus gulped and slowly took the envelope and opened it. It was a letter old and worn but readable.

Dear Ocarina Temple Leader

Date: 6 days after the Burning

I hope this letter finds you, you were foolish to trust the Grand Leader of the Orks Mortis. He betrayed you and his Orks burned the Ocarina Temple in ruins. Though some rooms are intact some aren’t. Ever since you befriended Mortis and allowed him access to the Ocarina Temple. I your second in command ordered my men to make pipes in the walls of the temple so we had passages inside the walls. Every room has an entrance, we wanted to escape incase he did betray you which I thought he would. I send this with my messenger I hope he finds you, please if you get this letter follow him and get to us outside. Save yourself while Mortis still lets you roam around, I am sure he’ll imprison you soon. If you find us we’ll forgive you.

Make haste

Fortuna

Timaneus’s mind was whirling what was the Burning. Timaneus racked his brains That was it he thought. The Burning was probably when the Orks burnt down a section of the Ocarina Temple and the day they’d taken over the place. So this was written about ten years ago. So the Ocarina temple leader had befriended the Ork Mortis and Mortis had gathered some Orks and betrayed the leader. So the person Lalcon mentioned that Fortuna person might be the old second in command of the Ocarina Temple thought Timaneus, But I shouldn’t worry about this now, I gotta find Misam and this place really stinks or maybe it because of the skeleton. Looking at the skeleton again Timaneus felt a wave of nausea coming and crawled away. After a while his knees began to ache, the pipes looked endless. Timaneus ended raised his head and saw that there were two pipes connecting to the one he was on, one was sloping up and one headed left. Timaneus sighed and crawled into the pipe. Once he was at the end he placed his hands “Rocila!” quickly a ball of energy formed and blew a hole in the pipe and the wall. Timaneus crawled out of the hole just to see some bricks come tumbling out and a section of the wall collapse. Timaneus heard some Orks coming, “So much for being discreet,” said Timaneus running up the stairs. Timaneus reached the top of the stairs and sighed he was at the fifth floor.

There were cages everywhere, the Orks had been too lazy to make cells so they’d made cages and people were in them or slaves. Three Orks were escorting an Ork who was dragging an unconscious Misam with them. Timaneus nocked an arrow and fired it while running and yelled “Flaname!” the arrow caught fire while hissing through the air and hit the Ork who was next to the Ork dragging Misam in the back. The Ork gave a hoarse cry then his pitched forward the fire on the arrow got onto his body and in seconds was burning him to crisp. The Orks mumbled and one Ork stamped on the dead Ork to put out the fire. They searched the place looking for the attacker Timaneus dived behind a cage and waited. “Where in the blazes did he go?” said an Ork, “Little wimp,” said another “Who cares let’s proceed.” “Aye,” responded the last, Timaneus saw the man in the cage. He was bleeding from numerous cuts and had many bruises. Timaneus flared with anger and used magic to undo the lock. Then he pushed open the cage “You’re free,” he said and as the man stammered his thanks Timaneus was already running away following the three Orks.

Nocking another arrow Timaneus followed the Orks who were down the hallway from him and fired aiming for an Orks head. The arrowhead buried itself in an Orks arm tearing through muscles and making the Ork drop his weapon. “Damn another miss,” he scowled nocking another arrow his aim was terribly off he’d been aiming for the back again. The Ork whispered something to his comrades and they walked off then he lumbered towards Timaneus gripping a dirk in his other hand. Timaneus fired the arrow but missed the arrow hit the wall sending a few sparks into the air then dropped to the ground. Timaneus chucked his bow on the ground and drew his jewablade to fend off a side-cut. They disengaged Timaneus changed his grip to a two handed and sliced down the Orks jumped away. The longer and stronger weapon that Timaneus carried was more than a match for the Ork’s short dirk meaning the Ork was at a serious disadvantage. Timaneus charged him and repeatedly hammered blows onto him. The Ork jumped away and tried not to directly engage Timaneus in a duel but it was futile in the end. As the Ork tried to move away again Timaneus spun around drove his foot into the Orks stomach. The Ork dropped his dirk and Timaneus moved his fist back and upper cut him below the jaw. The Ork fell back and crashed onto the floor. Timaneus unstrung his bow and placed it in his quiver. Satisfied Timaneus slung the quiver over his back and followed the Orks carrying Misam who were heading for the room where Misam’s fate lay.
