A poem from another lifetime, reincarnated now to live on after you have gone.

The candlelight I read by now will be extinguished in an hour
And day will close its pageant scene alike a sudden wilted flower
Then passing on from light to shadow
I listen for the silent echo
That guides me down the timeless river to meet you in your private bower

Kindled now our passion fires as bodies meld and hearts entwine
Drowned within your ocean eyes ecstatic as your lips taste mine
Fingers comb cascading tresses
Tracing figures, sweet caresses
'Til rhythmically we rise together -- shudder -- relax -- recline

Then suddenly your visage flickers, fades away and slips from view
Hurtled from my altered state I crash into the world I knew
Embittered by the day's harsh light
I bide my time until the night
When ancient magic frees my mind and once again I dream of you
