Ode to the Balthuravon
The brave few gathered in the midst
to stand in the breach for proud Athula
Like colts waiting to be sacrificed
Like stallions prepared for battle
Celestial in their resolve
Immortal in their glory
Wrought in the image of Ezersol
Endowed with the heart of Ezrahoddon
They were berserkers of ancient spirit
True sons of stalwart Vodon
With mighty deeds they did prevail
even when defeat strode in their shadows
and victory remained far away
Battered and bloody they fought on
valiant to the end
The Warriors' Burden
[From Chapter 2 of The Book of Thudonyx]
The brave few gathered in the midst
to stand in the breach for king and flag
Like calves waiting to be sacrificed
Like lions preparing for battle
Angelic in their resolve
Immortal in their glory
Though of flesh too weak and bones too fragile
they remained paragons of honor
struggling in fear’s embrace
ever wearier in the fray
Yet in God they hoped
Through faith they persevered
With mighty deeds they did prevail
even when defeat hounded them
and victory remained far away
Still they fought on
gallant to the end
