Sometimes we are deeply touched by things. Here a moment in mine.

She could see the beach's outline
sensed the ocean's tide striking the shore.
She felt the rending of her spine
and heard the surf's constant roar.
Drifting there injured, all alone
facing death upon that moonlit night.
She recalled how brightly she had shone
and how freely she had shared her light.
All things living must finally die
and now her time was near.
She could not grieve or dare to cry.
She had abandoned every fear.
I found her lying on the sand.
Her soul had long since fled.
She still glowed and warmed my hand
and I mourned that she was dead.
