The Change

Daytime diminishes into nighttime

The moon ascends high in the sky

You are about to cry

You stare from your window

Your brown eyes change to yellow

You are changing

Your eyesight is changing

See the corona of the moon

It summons to you

Your jawbone is changing

Dull teeth to sharp daggers

Sharp enough to shred flesh and snap bones

Your body is changing

The bones snap and muscles thrash about

Frame breaks down

Blood flows aflame through veins

Nails split and elongate to claws

Lengthy to protect you

Backbone elongates; you plummet

Four paws on the ground

Draped in tattered garments

Your skin is changing

Silky gray fur substitutes flesh

Evil incarnate

Throw back your head to howl

You hear an owl

You get ready to hunt

You hear a heartbeat

Get ready to eat

You smell your prey

You want to play

Get ready for your kill

It gives you a thrill

Sunlight returns for tomorrow

Not as your canine form

Your human form
