This is it, no light to infringe on such grace,
Velvet caress of the nightly lace,
Such beauty, owner of an unknown face.

Elegant practiced dance across the sky
Watching, in the shadow of the moon where I lie
Stuck in this trance, time indefinite passes me by.

Hushed howls of wings scream in my ears,
Draining with its passing all my fears.
Wizened old creature age of unknown years.
Touch the stars with your feathered wings,
Glide across the moon, and hear how it sings,
Pierce the horizon and see what it brings.

You did it, you pierced the skies
And started the new day, with a sunrise.
Return to you home my friend, the night dies.

Watch as the night sheds it cowl,
As over the horizon the sun does prowl.
For your duty this eve is now done, dear owl.
