Fairborne and Felinea

Short story By: SerrenaBlaize
Fantasy

The end of a long, tiring journey brings a man home to memories and love.

Just a taste of a world created over 29 years, by two girls (now women) with a love for RPGs and far too much time on their hands.

Fairborne & Felinea

Shadows flitted about the room in the dim light of night. The cool glow of the full moon filtered though gently billowing curtains and alit in a soothing dance on long, silky, ebony hair. It was well passed midnight before Fairborne had, at last, come stumbling onto the doorsteps of home. Though productive, his journey had been grueling and far too long. All he had desired as he climbed the stairs to their room was to crawl into bed and sleep for a month. Such thoughts slid way, as he saw her beautiful face placid and serene in her slumber. He slumped back against their chamber doors, gazing for time indeterminable at the slow rhythmic dance of her breath.

His breath still caught in his chest at the sight of her, just as it had the first time his eyes had ever beheld her. A mischievous glint had played under the languid lids of the most striking emerald green eyes he had ever seen. She had smiled and his heart was hers. He knew, from that first moment, beyond a doubt, someday she would be his, because he was already hers.

Their romance was a whirlwind, leading so quickly to marriage that it surprised everyone, including himself. This golden skinned goddess was the sunlight that shone happiness on his every moment, but to every life some darkness must fall. The world enclosed by the castle walls chaffed at her, and she grew edgy within the confines of their daily life. He tried to ease her by showering her with love and attention, but her mind became increasingly unsettled with every passing day. The more she pulled away from him the more he tried to hold on to her, and the tighter he held the more suffocated she felt, until the longing for her wild, adventurous life overcame her. His lovely, nineteen year old bride, turned those striking eyes away from him, and instead captivated the heart of a beer-swilling, blood-thirsty, muscle-brained barbarian.

The light had left his life and he spiraled down into a deep dark oblivion. The mere thought of her with another ripped his soul asunder. To not have her, shattered him into a million pieces. He nearly did not survive to see the day when she bored of her new toy and realized that true happiness had been in the arms of her husband. It took some time and a bit of growing up on both of their parts, but eventually she returned to him. He learned to not smother her, and she learned that he was just as exciting as anything she could find out in the world.

With exhausted effort, he pushed himself away from the door. Unbuckling his belt, he let his sword drop unceremoniously to the ground, as he crossed the expanse of their chamber to their bed. Tiredly he pulled off his boots, letting them fall carelessly from his hands to the floor, and then pulled his shirt off over his head, tossing it behind him. He rested his hands on either side of her, the muscles of his arms rippling as he leaned down to slowly, gently press his lips on the soft warmth of her.

A groggy moan escaped her lips as she passionately returned his kiss. A feather light touch teased the smooth flesh of her shoulder, gliding with loving caress along the curve of her body. Full, firm breast rose to meet his hand, as she wrapped herself eagerly around him. Here was his goddess - his Felinea -- his wife.

Somehow, he was no longer tired.
