He had no idea how he got there, his body was in excruciating pain and his mind had gone numb. His memory was a total blackout, he could remember nothing. The jungle was really scary, with all kinds of creepy noises flowing through his ears. But he wasn't afraid; he was trying to figure out who he was and how he got there. And suddenly there was an echo as a strangely soothing voice called out 'Imran'. He remembered his name as he heard it. He had a sudden sense of relief. He wanted to follow the direction from which he heard the voice, but he was too tired to go on.
Suddenly an idea took hold of his mind, that the place wasn't real; maybe he was just dreaming. This was plausible to him since he couldn't remember how he got there, which happens only when you are dreaming. He was still lost in his thoughts when he heard something move in the bushes. As Imran turned in the direction of the noise, he saw a burly black wolf moving towards him. It was fierce with red eyes and huge paws and its jaws looked ready to rip him off. Imran frowned as the wolf howled with its pack!
Imran realized it was all too real to happen in a dream! He was surrounded by a pack of wolves and now he had to move or get killed! Imran got his feet back to the ground and with all the strength he could muster, started running! There was a stream of river flowing, hoping he could find a home nearby started running along its shore. He was fast but not fast enough! They were getting close, and Imran was now finding it hard to dodge them. His body was starting to give up, and his head was hurting bad. He couldn't go on any further that he fell on the ground, his eyes still open, and his mind hoping that it all turns out to be a dream. Imran felt the wolf dragging his body and muttering something in a man's voice before he fainted.
Imran woke up on a warm cozy bed which was a part of a large grand room. The room had large windows covered with huge picturesque curtains. He had the best sleep he could ever get and all his weariness was gone. His memory was still hazy though; he remembered being dragged by wolves, but he couldn't figure out how he got in that strange mysterious world. His mind was experiencing a strange calmness which he hadn't quite experienced since a long time, not since his wife left him. But Imran was completely oblivious of this fact.
There was some luscious food on a table near him. Imran ate till his stomach was full, it was the best meal he ever had. Suddenly Imran found a wolf standing in front of him. It was the same which had brought him here.
'I see you are enjoying your stay here in our realm' said the wolf as if there was a grumpy old man speaking through his mouth. Imran finding it hard to believe was scared stiff.
'My name's Thi'b. Don't worry, I won't harm you' the wolf said giving out a smile. 'The queen likes the idea of having a guest here for the first time. But I am curious to know how you got here; no one has ever managed to enter this realm. Then how did you find your way inside?'
'I…. I don't remember anything that happened before I arrived here' said Imran trying hard to accept that he wasn't dreaming.
'So her highness was right. Anyways she would like to see you now. After me'
Imran followed Thi'b reluctantly.
