Life Without Memories

Essay By: Express Yourself
Flash fiction

What would life be like if you didn't have memories? This is based on the novel "The Giver" by Louis Lowrey. I loved that book!

Life without memories would be like food with a little bit of spice. You take a bite and start chewing. It has normal flavors until... Wait, there is something that gives you a twinge. You don't know what it is. You don't know what spice was put in it. The food is like your life. You are born and everything seems normal. Then you hit that spice, that longing. You don't know what your longing for. You don't have those memories. You'll do whatever you can to figure out what the "spice" is because life is tasteless without memories.
