I’ve been walking through this lonely life
A creature caught in nightly strife
My heart is frozen solid, no feelings can escape.
I hide all that I feel away beneath my midnight cape.
But even in the darkest night a little hope can shine
Tiny pinpricks of shining light that never will be mine.
Have you ever stared at a single star in the sky with such fierce intent that everything else became black meaningless empty nothingness?
I’m looking for my star.
I’ve been walking through this empty life.
I’m being cut by its cold knife.
My heart is broken jaggedly, I feel its edges sting.
And still I hide myself away, a dark and hopeless thing.
But even in the strangest night a little hope can shine
Tiny pinpricks of shining light that never will be mine.
But even if I find my star, it would still be away so far.
As unreachable as the moon, hidden by the city lights.
I’ve been walking through this quiet life
A wand’rer caught in silent strife.
My heart it lies in pieces, it burst when I saw you
I cannot let my feelings show, my cape – it has turned blue.
But even in the most pained night a little hope can shine
Tiny pinpricks of shining light that never will be mine.
I have found my star
And now I will sit and see it pass
For it passes way outside my reach.
The world is closing in on me, no air, no hope, no door.
And oh, my love, my heart’s been broken a million times before.
With every tear I cry, a drop of pain is solidified
But nothing can remain standing before love’s roaring tide.
My sky is Dark.
No lights to shine.
But I know tomorrow comes a new night.
And with it a new Star…
