One surviving Samurai reflects on the cost of success and the price of duty.

I stand with my hand on the hilt of my Katana, looking out at the blood red sunset. It is done. Teigen is dead. My gaze shifts to the graves of Hari and Mei, their helmets resting on the freshly dug soil. They died as they lived, bravely defending their lord and lands, and I hope that gives them some of the solace that I seek. Had I known that this would have been the price of my decision, would I still have done the same? I prefer to think so. As Samurai, our first duty is to our liege lord, not to ourselves. We offer our service and our lives to that duty, and gladly given. Now, I must live with the cost of my actions forever, and hope that I can die as nobly as they did, with honour. Otherwise, their sacrifice will all have been for nothing.
