PART 11: FRIENDSHIP IN PROGRESS
"Potter, I don't think I can do this. I want to go back to our original world! I'm not meant for this," Draco said in discomfort and anxiety as they went out of the headmaster's room.
"Calm down, Malfoy. We're going to be just fine. We just have to act like the original ones and blend in," Harry suggested. They are walking on the field now, heading out of the castle to avoid being seen by others.
"I don't know if I can do this," Draco said again anxiously. He looks as if he's about to cry.
"Malfoy," Harry called. He then grips Draco's shoulder that made them stopped walking. He made Draco face him but Draco is not looking into his eyes. He is looking down to the ground. "Malfoy, look at me!" Harry ordered. Draco hesitantly looks into Harry's eyes and heard him speak. "We can do this. You can do this. We have to… if we ever want to get back to our families. Think of your family, Malfoy," he said.
"What's there to think about? My kid? Maybe. My wife? I didn't even love her," Malfoy said, losing Harry's grip on his shoulder.
"You what?" Harry asked in disbelief.
"I didn't love her," He repeated. He then sits down on the ground with his knees up to his chest and covers his head with both of his hands. "I mean, I married her because my parents told me to," he said, not facing Harry with his voice spoken from between his hands.
"Err… okay…" Harry said with no clue as what else to comment on. He then also sits down to the ground next to Draco. His knees were brought up to his chest too and he hugs his legs.
"You know? I've always tried sooo hard to please my parents. I even joined Death Eaters because of them… and Dumbledore died because of me…" Draco said, still from between his hands that are covering his face.
Harry pulls Draco's hands away from his face to look at him. Draco's face is red… like he is holding back his tears with all his might. "I saw you that day… You wouldn't do it. You were lowering your wand," Harry told him.
Draco is quiet for a while when he heard what Harry said. He then shrugs. "You're right. I wouldn't do it…" He agreed.
"You know why?" Harry asked, trying to console him.
"Why, Potter? Entertain me…" Draco said, beginning to be bitter again like he always had.
"Because you're good," Harry said, ignoring the bitterness in Draco's words.
Draco scoffs. He is becoming like a brat he was again. "What do you mean I'm good? I almost killed you, I broke your nose once, I stole things, and I play dirty in Quidditch. I can't be good," he said.
"What I meant is that you have a good heart… But having a good heart, doesn't stop you from being an ass, Malfoy," Harry said, starting to feel like the conversation is not going anywhere. Draco is too hard to handle.
"You called me an ass? Do you want a piece of me, Potter?" Draco asked, getting mad. They are both standing now with their nose almost met, glaring at each other.
"What are you going to do, Malfoy?" Harry asked, trying to intimidate Draco.
Draco was about to say something bitter when he realizes the oddity to the whole situation. He begins to calm down and pulls his face away from Harry. "What is this? We're like adults trapped in 13-year-old bodies and we already started to act like a 13-year-old!" Draco said, feeling angry at himself that he got too caught up in the situation. He sits back down and gives out a long sigh.
Harry sighs too. He then sits down again, feeling silly. Draco was right. They are acting like kids. Like they used to… "Sorry…" he said.
"No. I'm sorry… You were trying to console me, I got mad. I should thank you," Draco said.
Harry remains silent for a little while. They both look down at the scenery of the lake and the forest, thinking about what a mess of a situation that they're in. Harry thinks that he should ask something to Draco out of the blue. It is… "About the dreams, Malfoy. Do you-?"
"-Not the dreams, Potter. No. Let's not talk about the dreams," Draco cuts him in.
Harry nodded. "Okay," he said. That answered the question he had quite enough, actually. That proves that they had same dreams.
"Potter, hold me," Draco asked of Harry abruptly.
"What? Why?" Harry wondered.
"Just do it!" Draco hissed.
Harry realizes that Draco's body is shaking. He looks like he needed to be cuddled very badly. So he just does as what he was told. He took Draco in his arms and holds him close. In his arms, he can hear Draco's whimper. Draco is crying… Harry continues to hold him as the sun is rising higher from the ground.
