PART 12: THE BACK-UP PLAN
Harry tries to be as quiet as possible in the classroom. That seems to work. Hermione and Ron are busy talking to each other and only once in a while they would ask things to Harry. Harry's original one from the dream seems to be much of a loner type. Harry hadn't quite figured out yet how he really is. Maybe another dream might help him find out, he thought.
Draco, on the other hand, is not doing so well. He looks so afraid and anxious. At this rate, his disguise might falter. It is also getting a bit difficult for him since everyone else is continuously trying to make conversation with him. He had no idea how his original one is like. He's not the type to quickly understand how people are. Most of the time, he would think of himself instead of others so he didn't quite get a chance to figure out how his original one is. He needs help from Harry, he thought. He looks at Harry from across the classroom like he's asking for help. Harry only nodded at him to tell him that everything is okay.
They survived through the class. It was 'History' class. History of Vampyrs and Lycans, of course. Harry thought that the History textbook he had might help him figure out about a thing or two regarding this world. He flips open the book to read as they are walking to the next class. He was about to read the first page when he heard someone calling "Hey cutie," out loud. He looks up and saw Neville Longbottom said so to Draco. He widens his eyes in surprise. Why is Neville teasing Draco?
"What do you want, Longbottom?" Draco hissed at him bitterly.
"Wow, you're a bit outrage today," Neville commented. "PMS-ing, is it?" He teased him again.
"Shut up, Longbottom! Or I'll kick you silly!" Draco snapped. Everyone is starting to look at him weirdly. Harry notices it. Draco is starting to show the real him instead of the original one. It might break their disguise!
"What is wrong with you, Draco? You used to just reject me nicely. Why act all tough?" Neville is starting to sense something wrong. Draco started to break apart. He didn't know what to do. He is sweating from all of the stares from the other students around him. He becomes anxious.
"Leave him alone, Neville," Harry said, walking to Draco's side. He can't let it go on. There are more important matters to handle at hand. Harry will not let this silly thing break their disguise so easily.
"What's up with you, Harry? Why backing Draco up?" Neville looks at them. He can smell something fishy. Harry didn't say anything. He couldn't. He didn't know what to say. Draco looks at the struggling-for-word Harry and figure out that he must do something to cover for him.
"None of your business, Longbottom!" He hissed. Harry feels like face-palming himself. Instead of coming with a better line, Draco just proves to everyone he's more of not himself! Harry needs to quickly cover this.
"Draco is not feeling well," Harry said, feeling a bit weird to call him by his first name. "He's sick." Harry feels like cursing himself at how lame that excuse was.
"And how would you know that?" Neville asked.
"I-" Harry was about to say something but could not come out with any idea. Shit! He thought. I'm doom.
"We're dating," Draco said. Harry looks at Draco in shock. Draco looks at him and fakes a charming smile indicating him to go along with it. Everyone else started to whisper and gaping their mouth in surprise. He had to come up with a back-up plan and that was the best he could come up with. Besides, their original ones were secretly lovers, right? It's about time for people to find out, anyway.
Harry gulps and looks at Neville in the eyes. "Yeah…" He nodded. "We're so in love," he added.
Everyone is in shock. Neville then does not said any more words. He simply walks away from the place. They now receive stares and gapes from the others around them. They both just smile awkwardly at them. Things will start to get even more complicated from now on, is it?
