PART 16: TASK TO COMPLETE AND SIDE TO CHOOSE
"That was amazing, Harry!" Draco commented to him as soon as the class ended. "I only had fangs and wings but you! You're like a wolf with a wing... A flying wolf! Hahaha!" Draco sounded excited in his manner of speaking. It was the first time Harry had seen him acted that way in front of him. He used to be hyper and all when he was with Crabbe and Goyle back then but he never was this way with Harry. Yeah… Harry had his eyes on Draco back at school. They used to hate each other so much and they can't help but glare or hiss at each other back then. Now, they're like the closest of friends. It's kind of weird but at the same time, it feels great. Maybe back then, they never had a chance to really get to know each other better.
"You know, Draco," Harry said.
"Yeah?" Draco looks at Harry with his face still grinning in excitement.
"I've always wonder what might happen if I shook your hand back when we first met during first year," Harry said.
The grin faded from Draco's face. He seems to be lost in thoughts for a moment. He then smiles too. "Yeah, I've wondered the same. I might not hate you as much," he said and grins again, completely teasing Harry. He pats Harry's shoulder and pulls him to walk beside him. "Now let's go see that young Dumbledore to prove our theory," Draco said. They both walk side by side now towards Dumbledore's office.
After listening to the story about the Room of Requirement from both boys, Dumbledore slouches down on his chair, thinking, and fearing the worst. "Many years ago… I'm talking about for more than two to three epochs ago," Dumbledore started. "There are those who were left in charge of guarding the portals between all realms. So during the time, many people travel from realms to realms. That's why there's an existence of werewolf in your realm, and also the legend of vampires in the myth and folklore of the muggles there and such… It was because of this travelling made thousand of years ago."
"So that explains the existence of Fenrir Greyback and Professor Lupin as werewolves in the magical realms," Harry stated.
Dumbledore nodded at him. "Yes. But the guards between the realms had detected chaos and sufferings because of the authorization to such travel so they banned it and people just forgot about it from time to time and now it was nothing more than mere legend." Dumbledore explained. He then puts on a concern look on his face. "Therefore," he continued. "It could be possible that someone from your realm had found out that the legend of the connecting realms is true. And that there are some portals that still existed up until now that can still be used."
"I only had one suspicion in my mind. The Dark Lord from our realm who is dead now, he used to have packs of werewolves working for him. Fenrir Greyback, the pack leader, is dead, but not all of the werewolves were captured. So I think it's possible that one of them is the one who took the original ones away from here," Draco stated. Harry smiles to himself thinking that Draco is actually quite smart.
"I fear the same. I will talk with the spirit of the oldest elders about this matter while you two… I leave it up to you two to figure out who and why that particular person kidnapped the original ones," Dumbledore ordered. The task is difficult and burdensome, but both Harry and Draco only nodded at Dumbledore in agreement to the task given to them. They are determined now to find out. They are very curious. And most of all, they are no longer afraid of the consequences. They had each other and they really feel close to each other. That is one of the thing that they don't want to lose.
There are sounds coming from the Dark Forest… Something moving… Something's wrong… Both Harry and Draco notice of it. "Do you hear that, Harry?" Draco asked. They had just left Dumbledore's office and were about to head back to their dorms. Harry only nodded at him. "What should we do? Should we go and get Dumbledore?" Draco asked.
Harry quickly shakes his head at Draco. He sniffs the air. The smell of the beings in the forest is kind of familiar yet also had a very distinct note to it. "They are vampyrs," Harry said. "But not of the Hogwarts' students," he added.
Blame their curiosity and probably their insistence of being with each other for a bit longer, they both sneak out to the Dark Forest. They hide behind a huge tree as they saw three figures are standing in the forest with their wings spread. They are adult vampyrs that had passed their coming of age ceremonies. Apparently, here in the immortal realm, everyone will go through a coming of age ceremony that is when they are 17 years old during their graduation day. The coming of age ceremony is held to decide at what year will they stopped aging. It is made by another blood offering in a chalice just like the one they did when they first arrived at the school to decide houses.
"Who are they?" Draco asked, whispering from behind the tree.
"I think they're the Death Dealers, Draco," Harry whispered back. Draco feels his stomach churned at the mentioning of the name.
"We should get out of here," Draco suggested in a whisper. Harry nodded at him in agreement. But as they were about to sneak away, Draco accidentally stepped on a thin branch on the ground and it snaps in two making a loud 'crack' sound.
"Who's there?" One of the Death Dealers called out to them. It is a woman's voice and the voice is oddly familiar. The three of them fly using their wings towards the two boys in seconds and it left them with no escape route. Now they both can see the owner of the voice. Though her hair is lusciously straight and well-kept, her manner of speaking and attitude show no apparent changes. It's Bellatrix Lestrange. "Oh well, if it isn't my lovely nephew, Draco… I see you brought us a treat…" She said, indicating Harry Potter as the treat. Draco and Harry went speechless. What are they going to do? Whose side will Draco choose?
