(One Month Later)
There was a knock at the front door.
"It's open." Joe called, busy feeding Holly. He glanced up as the living room door opened. Graham peeked tentatively around the door frame.
"Hi." He said softly. "Before you say anything," he began quickly. "Jess told me you had to move suddenly, for work. I remembered I didn't give you my number, so I figured I'd come and… see you." Graham cleared his throat uncomfortably. "Sorry, I should've come down unannounced. I should have asked Jess for your phone number instead."
"Graham." Joe put Holly down in her crib and went over to Graham. "Shut up." Joe said firmly. A second later, Joe's lips were on Graham's in a fierce kiss. "God, I missed you." He growled, before kissing Graham again.
"You did?" Graham whispered.
"So much." Joe rested his forehead against Graham's. "I got an unexpected promotion at work, but it meant I had to move closer to work. The triplets have been keeping me busy, and I've been working longer hours, and with everything that was going on, I completely forgot to get your number before I left." He grinned suddenly. "You wanna meet the kids?" Graham nodded. Joe went over to the crib, and picked up the first baby. "This is Lou, short for Louise. Katie chose the girl names, I got the boy names. You know she's Lou, because she always gurgles when you pick her up." Graham smiled, and took the baby from Joe. She looked up at him with clear brown eyes, curiously, before she reached up and yanked his ponytail. Graham laughed.
"Babies love doing that." He said. "They all do it." Joe smiled and put Lou back in her crib. "This is Holly, the eldest. She doesn't laugh much. She had a tiny gold fleck in her right eye." Holly also grabbed Graham's ponytail and tugged hard. "And this is Beth, the youngest. She has the most hair."
"You're just saying that because you know I'll pound you into the ground if you say otherwise." Graham laughed.
"True. But they are beautiful."
"I know." Joe slipped his arm around Graham's waist as the pair of them looked down into the crib. Graham felt Joe's body heat wash over him, and smiled to himself.
"How old are they?"
"Six months old this week." Graham smiled at the babies affectionately.
"You look hungry." Graham said after a moment. "You want some dinner?" Joe looked at him.
"Sure." He moved into the kitchen to help Graham make dinner, but Graham shooed him away.
"I'll make it, you look after the babies." Joe nodded, and went back into the living room. A moment later, Graham came back through. "You realise there's basically no food in there, right?" Joe shrugged.
"I haven't been eating much."
"I thought you looked thin." Graham frowned. "You need to keep eating Joe," he said firmly. "Otherwise, you'll lose weight, and that's not good. You're already skinny. I'm going shopping." He had slipped away before Joe could protest.
Joe picked up Lou and cuddled her close, frowning to himself. Glancing in the hallway mirror, he realised he did look a little thinner, but not much. He'd lost some of the weight from his stomach over the past few weeks.
Graham was back quicker than Joe expected.
"Do you really think I'm too skinny?" Joe asked doubtfully, laying Lou back in the crib carefully.
"Not right now. Don't get any skinnier, though, otherwise I'll have nothing to hang onto in bed." Graham grinned wickedly at him. "Now shut up, and help me put this stuff away. I don't know where you keep everything." Joe smiled at Graham, and went to help him put away to groceries.
"So, what's for dinner?" Joe asked. "What did you get?"
"Chicken stir-fry." Graham pulled out peppers, chicken, mushrooms and onions and began slicing them quickly. Joe watched him for a moment, before he went over to the other side of the kitchen, and wrapped his arms around Graham's waist from behind. He rested his chin on Graham's shoulder and nuzzled against his neck.
"I'm glad you're here." He said softly.
"Me too." Graham glanced over at Joe over his shoulder, a smile on his lips. "How long do you want me to stay?" Joe shrugged.
"As long as you like. I'll never say no to your cooking."
"Glad you like it. Seriously, how long do you need me for?"
"Why? Someone to get back to?"
"No… I just like to know." Joe thought for a while.
"Well… How about you stay until… it no longer works." He said finally.
"You mean, until you get bored with me?" Graham asked, rather coolly. He turned round to face a rather taken aback Joe.
"That's not what I meant." Said Joe.
"Well, it sounded like it… I'm not here so you can get over Katie, Joe." Said Graham firmly. "I'm not… therapy, or variation, until you find something else. If I stay, it's because you want me to, not because you feel like I might be useful!"
"I know," said Joe. "All I meant was that sometimes feelings fizzle out. I'm not saying it'll happen, but…" Graham looked at him for a while.
"Alright." He nodded. "Sorry I got mad… I just…" He paused, and turned away to start slicing the chicken. "I'm not just looking for a fuck anymore." He said quietly. "I want to meet someone, and settle down, and fall in love. I want a family. So if I'm going to be just a fuck for you, than I'm leaving, understand?" Joe nodded. He looked at Graham for a moment, before he leant in and kissed him passionately. His fingers dragged gently through Graham's hair, pulling Graham closer. Graham moaned softly and drew back reluctantly. "You want dinner to burn?" Graham awkwardly twisted round to the frying pan.
Joe sighed, but cuddled in close against Graham's back, resting his face against Graham's delicious-smelling neck. After a moment, he began kissed Graham's neck instead. His hands slipped down to Graham's hips, where they stayed for a moment, before they slid round in front of Graham. "Joe!" Graham hissed. "I'm cooking." He shooed Joe away firmly.
Joe shrugged and let Graham go. He got plates out instead and laid the table quickly. They spent most of the meal in an awkward silence. Graham found he was hard for most of it, and thoughts of anything and everything other than Joe couldn't stop it. He quickly washed up after they finished eating, while Joe went to bathe the babies. Graham went to help him when he'd finished washing up. After their baths, the girls were put to bed. After a moment's silence, and avoidance of each other's eyes, Joe and Graham fell upon each other with a passion they had never experienced before.
