A/N: Hiya, this is the first time for me to write a story on a site besides cellphone novels. Please bear with me, seeing as I'm totally new here and english is not my native language. There may be some typos and grammatical mistakes. Constructive critics are the most appreciated.
--Chapter 1--
It was a beautiful friendship, Dedrick and I. We'd been best buddies since we were toodlers. My mum was a close friend of his, and so we'd been very close since we were both the only child.
We would tell each other our secrets, made jokes, hung out, and fooled around with each other. He even had an affectionate nickname for me, much to my dismay.
Sometimes he would call me his plushie, It sounded childish but it kinda made sense.
He liked to cuddle with me. Not in that gay-ish way though. We often had sleepovers in each other's house, almost every night. For that reason each of our parents bought us a king-sized for both of us, seeing that we were inseparable and had to sleep on the same bed. Of course, they'd been worried at first. It wasn't normal for two teenage guys to sleep together, cuddling to each other like we were brothers.
Even cuddlier than any brothers alive.
But we managed to convince them that no, we were straighter than any arrows. Hell, even Dedrick hid some straight porn magazines under his bed. He was grounded for a month and a half for that. The expression on his face back then was priceless.
Well, we were indeed very, very close. It nearly felt like, our friendship was my whole system to keep living. Our friendship was my life. And I looked forward so much growing up with Dedrick.
Oh, of course, we got teased by the other guys for that, especially because we were always seen together and we never dated any girls around. But we never gave a damn. Our friendship was much more precious than some certain stereotyped remarks.
Not that we always stuck together like we were siamese twins, we hung out with the other guys too, and most of them got no problem with me and Dedrick hanging around together. Even the girls thought it was cute.
Well, seeing as Dedrick was the school heart throb no one seemed to complain. I was grateful we weren't targeted by the misunderstood homophobes. Even if Dedrick was gay, no one would dare though. He befriended almost a whole population of the guys at school, several of them were jocks and were gays. There would always anyone who will stand up to protect him. Even I was amazed at first, seeing as he clung onto me all the time.
You see, Dedrick was everything I wished I could ever be. He was something the girls were squealing over. He was a walking wet dream for any living gay guys, even turned the straight ones into gays (not me. Not a chance.)
He has tanned skin and raven hair framing his delicate face which stands out his warm green eyes, which are his main attraction. He said he inherited it from his late grandfather, who looked surprisingly just like him in his young times. Of course, he's got nice abs which the girls drool over, thank's for the exercises and joggings we always had together. Though it confused me why I kept being skinny all the time, despite all the efforts I put just to grow some muscles.
Dedrick was also charming. His laugh would hold everyone's breath in the room. His perfect smile could melt even a hungry lion in heat.
I'd say I was jealous of him, but not that much. Instead I would be proud, having the school hottie as my best friend. Though.. Not so much either. He clung onto me too much for my liking.
As for me, I am hardly anything you can consider special. My name's Jesse Dan Rayner. I have an unruly red hair and freckles all over my face (Dedrick said they looked cute on me), also my eyes are a dull color of grey. Unlike Dedrick, it was hard for me to get good grades no matter how hard I tried. Not that I was a slacker, I studied everyday but to get a satisfying result I had to work hard for it. Dedrick himself was a natural genius. It was ironic, seeing as I was more of a bookworm than he was but he could get good grades in his sleep.
Not only that, I also scored poorly in sports. I was very clumsy and Dedrick once said my clumsiness would kill me someday and so he always had to take care of me which was one of the reasons he always stuck around with me.
--
It started out in a lazy afternoon, both of us were sitting under a big oak tree at the school yard. It was one of my favorite times, reading a book on my lap with Dedrick next to me, just enjoying each other's company.
"Jesse?"
"Hmm?" I hummed a reply, still frowning at the book on my lap.
Dedrick glanced at me, a bit annoyed that I was still ignoring him. "You know the girl we bumped into earlier?" he asked.
That got my fullest attention, and I turned to look at him curiously. "Oh? Molyse?"
"That's her name?" Dedrick said contemplatingly. "Yeah, she's the transfer student, remember?" I said, returning my attention to my book. Dedrick impatiently snatched the book off my lap and threw it aside, lying down and putting his head on my empty lap. He grinned up sheepishly at my glare. But then my expression softened as he reached out a hand to caress my hair. I stopped freaking out a long time ago after he'd done it a couple of times. He said he loved my hair.
I smiled. "Are you interested?"
He smiled back wickedly. "You jealous?"
I laughed. "Dream on. Tell me, do you like this girl?" I asked. He gave me a contemplating look again before he smiled almost dreamily. "Well... She's cute." he said, wrapping my waist with his arms and nuzzling his nose onto my stomach. I giggled at the tickling sensation.
"Then what are you waiting for? Make a move."
"Yeah, yeah, I know. But it's better to take things slow, you know? I don't really know the girl anyway. And besides..." he grinned up at me, "..Who's gonna look after my plushie while I'm gone courting a girl? My little plushie is gonna be loooonnely without me. We can't let that happen, can we?"
"Oh, shut up." I laughed again and smacked his head gently.
