Steve heard Brian and said, "What's wrong Brian?"
Brian was in his own head and couldn't hear Steve. Brian, remember me? The voice taunted. Brian knew it was George's voice. "Get out of my head!"
"Brian I'm not in your head. What are you talking about?"
Brian I thought you loved me? I love you Brian. Come and be with me Brian. "NO NEVER! NEVER!"
Steve was scared now. He held Brian's shoulders and shook him slightly. "Brian, it's me Steve. Please come back to me Brian."
Brian, you know Steve will only do what I did. It's just man's way. We see something that we like better than what we have and we must make an impression. "Steve's not like that. Now get out of my head!"
"I'm not like what Brian? Come back Brian!"
You know it will happen Brian. You mine as well come and join me. That's where you will wanna be when two boys have cheated on you. "GET THE HELL OUT OF MY HEAD!"
"Brian. BRIAN!" The second broke through the voice and Brian collapsed in Steve's arm from exhaustion. Steve sat down on the curb and held Brian in his arms. Rocking slowly he swooned Brian until he felt the limbs limbering. "Brian can you tell me what happened?"
"George is stuck in my head."
"I think George is haunting me."
"THAT SON OF A…"
"Steve that's not gonna help. Yes George is evil. But we shouldn't stoop to his level."
"Nice take down."
"Thanks, but Steve. He's dead. We can't do anything to him. And after we almost lost each other, I want to make the most of every second we have together."
"That sounds like a wonderful plan Brian. How do we start?"
"Well tomorrow after school we should drop by the library and see what they have on ghosts and hauntings."
"Ok. We can do that."
"Now we should get home."
"Yes we should." Steve helped Brian up and pulled out his phone. He dialed his home number and his mom answered.
"Hi mom, it's Steve. I was wondering if I could stay the night at Brian's tonight."
"Dear, it's a school night."
"Yes, I know mom, but since we brought all my stuff to my locker on orientation. I don't need to bring anything."
"Well that is true."
"So can I mom? Please."
"Well I suppose it's alright. But remember it's a school night. So lights out by ten."
"Ok mom, thank you."
"You're welcome sweetheart. I know how much Brian means to you."
"Yeah. He means a lot." Steve turned and smiled to Brian, who in turn smiled back.
When Steve had hung up they were outside Brian's door and Brian hesitated before reaching for the handle. He turned to Steve. "Can we not tell my parents about the whole George inside my head thing?"
"I won't tell them, Brian. I promise."
"Thank you Steve. I don't want to tell them until we know what is actually going on."
"I completely understand." Steve leaned in and caught Brian in a hot passionate kiss.
Brian was flooded with warmth and love. Neither of them could tell how long they had stood on the stoop but when they had finally pulled back, they went inside the house and up to Brian's room. There they slept together in Brian's bed and had no idea the kinds of challenges they would face that next year.
