Summer has come once more. It’s been a year since the last time my father and I shared our unusual avocation. It was only during summer when the weather would invite us into the forest to gratify our uncommon pastime. My father and I would camp in the forest and stay up late just to watch the majestically lustrous stars above us. We continued this until the day that would eradicate our tradition.

We talked about my mother, a topic my father usually would try to avoid. She was a geisha, like those I see walking down the streets on those busy, Friday afternoons. Her beauty was astonishing, her pure and devoted personality was outstanding and her simplicity was praiseworthy. However, falling in love with my father was an unpardonable action for somebody like her. Her family was mighty and powerful, her engagement to a nobleman had already been arranged before her and my father fell in love. A child was born, that child was me. Feelings of betrayal arose among the families of the engaged youths. My father, being a bare craftsman, was uselessly persecuted by the family of my mother until the affair was finally forgotten.

However, my father never lost his feelings for my mother who asked him to take the child with him as a promise of her future return. Ayako, my mother, found herself obligated to move out of the city, this disabling her to keep her promise to my father. My father never lost faith and raised their child on his own to one day save Ayako from an arranged marriage with somebody as heartless as that man she was now with. This promise wasn’t kept, though. That night, my father and I were assaulted by robbers who took all of our money along with something of major importance.

Trying to defend me, my father was killed in front of my eyes by those heartless men who called themselves thieves. More than thieves, they were monsters. They had no heart for having murdered a father before the eyes of his son. They left with all of our possessions as I was left behind in the middle of the dark, lonely forest. Sorrow consumed me for hours as I stared at the corpse of my beloved father only a couple of feet away from me. Sadness eventually turned into something else, something that I would unquestionably describe as thirst for revenge.

As years passed, I trained myself to become strong and fast. My abilities soon became a dangerous weapon against those who wandered around the forest seeking for helpless victims to assault. Thieves; they deserve no mercy. I was determined to eliminate each and every one of them, garbage.

I’m standing in the middle of a gang of six. They presume their sharpened knives and swords while they wear those filthy, lusty smiles on their repulsive faces. Their dirty vocabulary starts to reach me as they speak with that putrid aroma in their breaths. Their eyes showed many disgraceful desires but none bigger than their sexual appetite which seemed to be consuming them throughout.

“Look at this kid – if his voice remains shut we can pretend he’s a gal.”

These men were repulsive.
I stood still as the surrounded pigs approached me with saliva dropping from their jaws. They stared into my eyes as they wet their arid lips with their tongues. Once they were too close, two of them began to unleash their pants as the rest spotted me thoroughly with their rusty, large knives. They walked closer to me, one grabbing my arms from behind to keep me from moving while the other one tried to bring me to my knees.

I looked up at both of them, staring coldly into their eyes as I spoke clearly followed with a smile, “If this is what you wanted, you could’ve just asked.”

I enjoyed the look of confusion given off in their facial expressions. I rolled over to the side and reached for my sword I had hidden underneath my bag. Once in my hand, the blade received its yearly pleasure; fresh, tasty blood of animals. I murdered them one after another in a consecutive rhythm. My eyes shone with satisfactory cruelty as I stared at the last man standing. I began to walk towards him, wearing that smile only I could give. He was paralyzed, motionless and fearful, helplessly waiting for his death. I mumbled a random song as my lips smiled to the swing of my sword. His head fell off to the ground in front of me. I smiled once more as I put away my sword.

“Impressive.”

An unexpected voice was heard from somewhere. My body remained alert as my eyes examined the surrounding area. Then, I saw him. A man walked towards me, hiding half of his face behind a brown, thick scarf. His eyes shone with the moonlight as his long, dark hairs danced along with the wind. His steps were heavy but firm. I felt his stare upon me as I waited for him to commence his meanings.

“I’m not here to fight, no need to draw your sword.”

I was amazed by this stranger’s simplicity. He continued to walk towards me with no fear or question. He seemed strong, brave and fearless. I took my hand off the handle of my bloody sword and stared directly into his eyes. He wore the smile I had unconsciously removed from my face. Who was this man?

“I thought you were truly willing to let them rape you,” he said.

I smiled again, deciding weather or not I should give any response to this intimidating and mysterious stranger. “I didn’t feel like it tonight,” I replied before sighing and looking away.

“Do you mean you would do such a thing?” He insisted.

“I enjoy it most of the time since it’s the only chance I get to please myself.”

He seemed surprised by my answer. He stared at me with that curious look in his eyes, curved his lips slightly and finally let out a short, fake laugh.

“You let them rape you and then you kill them, is that correct?”

Why did he keep asking me these questions? I had never met anybody who showed interest towards a complete stranger but I guess I wasn’t one to complain at that moment. I glanced over at him and replied with a smile, “correct.”

Perhaps my liking for being abused is too awkward for anyone to understand, yet I could sense he found interest in my ways of being. At first I thought it was my imagination, but then I realized his eyes were all over me. I thought of this situation simply as ‘odd’ for the simple fact that none of us knew each other. To have met in a place like these for unknown purposes should inspire poor reliance, but for some reason I felt somewhat comfortable around this person.

“What do you want?” I asked for the only purpose of breaking the sudden silence between us.

As I had leaded my eyes away from him, I began to hear his heavy footsteps getting closer. Before my eyes had returned to him, I found his face staring at me with a strange smile of interest and the eyes of a hungry murderer. My body disconnected from my mind the moment I realized I couldn’t move out of his way. He was now close enough to bring his hand to my face. He pressed his thumb against my chin as he carelessly examined my face, always wearing that smile we now both shared.

“You’re beautiful,” he whispered in an intimidating voice.

I felt how my blood boiled inside of me as he raised his thumb up to my lips. His long nail delicately sensed the texture of my wet lips. His gray and outlined eyes hypnotized me as I saw them approaching me every second.

Fortunately, I was able to escape this unexplainable trance. I moved my face away and gave him a laugh that my nervousness created to dissimulate my way out of this awkwardness.

“Don’t try to seduce me, I’m not a woman. If you want to fuck me, you’ll have to find me some other time.”

Just as I finished talking, I tried to walk away from the person whose eyes were still over me. I felt his stare dragging me back to him but I fought myself to walk away from his reach. He giggled as he said in a low voice, yet loud enough for only me to hear, “I’ll see you some other time, then.”

Time froze in my mind while his words echoed inside of my head. My eyes wandered lost around the ground below before I finally realized what he tried to say. I turned around quickly expecting to meet those gray, mysterious eyes once again, but he was gone.
Who was this man? Why am I so interested in him? These questions that not even I could answer killed me slowly for a lapse of one week, the longest week of my life so far.

Jun is still unknown in this chapter but from what little is given he possesses a fiery reserve blanketed by calm danger - something akin to a seasoned Navy SEAL/Ninja. *S* He is a captivating character, breathing life into the story's birth.
