Ken was excited about making the trip to the gay bar/club in town. Ken told his mom where he would be, and that she shouldn't wait up for him because he'd probably be home pretty early in the morning. Of course she wanted to say something to him, but she new that he was eighteen, and he was entitled to do what he wanted to do.
Luke pulled up his car in front of Ken's house, called Ken's cell phone. He didn't want to ring the door bell and maybe wake someone up from sleeping. Ken came out practically running. He jumped into Luke's car and immediately gave him a kiss.
"Thank you, you know, technically tonight is your birthday too."
"I know, but it actually is your birthday, and I wanna make it fun and special for you." said Ken
"Well, you don't really have to; I even forgot it was my birthday myself." said Luke
"But that's why it had to be special."
So they left. They had to stand in line for a while before they got, but they did get in. They immediately went o the bar to order some water. They figured that they would be dancing quite a bit, so they would need t re-hydrate and soda would just not do it.
"So, you wanna dance." said Ken staring into the dance floor. "Wait, look at that. Do you see who I see?"
"It looks like he's waiting for someone." said Luke
"Wow, I guess you just never know." said Luke "Let's go over and say hi."
"No, are you crazy, remember what happened to us the last time we found out a secret about one of our neighbors." said Ken
"It's Mr. Snider, and he's gay not a psycho serial killer." said Luke
"How many people are in this club? Even if he was a serial killer, he wouldn't kill us with all of these people around." said Luke
"If you don't want to, I'll go by myself." said Luke
"I'm not letting you go by yourself." said Ken as they made their way over to Mr. Snider
"Hey Mr. Snider, what are you doing here?" said Luke
"Hey, Luke and Ken, how've you two been." said Mr. Snider in shock
"We're good, just celebrating our birthdays. Is there something you'd like to tell us?" asked Luke.
"I'm just waiting for a friend." said Mr. Snider
"Hey baby…oh Luke…Ken, what are you two doing here."
"Jeremy! You're here with Jeremy?" asked Ken
"Don't what? Tell anybody? We won't, don't worry your secret's safe with us. But you know Mr. Snider; you're going to have to face the truth sooner or later. You can't keep making your wife think that you love her." said Luke
"I do love my wife." said Mr. Snider
"I have no doubt that you love your wife, but I don't think that you love her in a romantic way. You can't, you're gay." said Luke
"Jeremy, I need to go talk with Mr. Snider here outside." said Luke
Greg Snider and Luke went to go talk outside the club. They mostly talked about accepting who he is and how it would hurt his family more in the long run if he didn't. Greg acknowledged that it would, but he wasn't ready to do such a thing. Luke helped him realize that he was the only one being affected by what he was doing. There was his entire family, and there was Jeremy, who is probably the one who is going to be hurt the most in this. Not only did he fall for a married man, he was in another relationship with Robert.
After their talk Greg left the club and Luke went back inside. By this time Jeremy had left also, and Luke and Ken were finally left as alone as you could be in a night club. While they were there, what Luke had been afraid that was on Ken's mind, was on his mind. All Ken wanted to do while they were there was leave and so that they could be alone and make love. The problem was, Luke was no were near ready to go that far in their relationship. But it was a good thing that Ken was two afraid to say anything. He didn't know if Luke had felt the same way, and if he didn't, he didn't want Luke to feel pressured to make him happy.
One other thing that Luke and Ken had in common was that they loved to dance, and they could both dance for hours without stopping. They danced until the place closed at three am. Afterwards; they headed to a Denny's. They weren't really all too hungry, but they figured that they would just hang out and wind down a little bit so that way they wouldn't be as wired when they got home. There, at the restaurant, Ken brought up the subject of his continuously growing sexual tension.
"So, there's something that I've been wanting to talk to you about." said Ken
"Well, you need to know that you can talk to me about anything. That never changes, Hun." responded Luke as he grabbed Ken's hand from across the table.
"I know, it's just that this subject is pretty personal, in fact, for the both of us." said Ken
"I've had a lot on my mind, and most of has to do with sex." said Ken
"I don't wanna pressure you or anything." said Ken
"The thing is, Ken, I don't really think that I'm ready to take our relationship that far. I also don't think that our relationship should be that serious this soon. We've only been going out for a year, and I'm still a virgin, and I know I told you that I love you, but I just don't think I'm ready." said Luke
"I still love you. I love you with all of my heart, but I just don't think I'm ready."
"I love you too, Luke. It's fine, I'm still a virgin too, and I don't want to rush you into anything you're not ready for. I just want you to know that you're the only one for me" said Ken.
"Wow, I can't believe you feel like that. Not to say I don't feel like that. I just wasn't sure if you felt the same. Anyway, thanks for being so understanding about all of this" said Luke
"No thanks. Do you want more coffee?" asked Luke
"Do you want to get out of here?" asked Luke
"Yeah, I think that we should get home." said Ken
So, Ken paid the bill, and they were off. It was about a twenty minute car ride from the diner to their street. On the way back home, the subject or Mr. Snider came back up. Ken brought it up because he wanted to know what he and Luke talked about while they were outside of the club. Luke explained everything about everything that they had talked about to Ken without leaving anything out. He wanted to make sure that he wasn't keeping anything from Ken. Especially not something that has to do with another guy, even if he was like thirty years older than him.
Ken was kind of suspicious as to why all of a sudden that Greg Snider was gay. Was he a homophobe and trying to trick Jeremy and got caught in the process, or was he really gay and has just been living a double life for his entire marriage. To some degree, Ken believed Luke, but the whole situation just seemed a little bit fishy. But, they agreed to keep a secret, and Ken didn't want to tell someone how he felt and risk it being the truth.
Greg Snider was in fact a gay man. He had no agenda when it came to that. He had been dealing with his homosexuality since he was a young teenager. He was raised to think that he would go to hell if he acted on his feelings of homosexuality. So he never did anything about how he felt. He went on living a straight life. It hasn't been until recently that his gay feelings have been really over powering his desire to live a straight life. He went to Jeremy for advice while Robert was on one of his business trips and they had an intimate moment while Jeremy was comforting Greg.
Their affair pretty much branched out from there. It had been going on for about two months, and never for one moment did Robert or any of Greg's family including his wife, Karen, notice or suspect one thing. One more thing that was odd about this situation was that her and Jeremy were actually quite good friends. She went on, clueless about the affair until one day, she decided to drop by and give Jeremy a visit. She knocked on the door, but no one was answering. Jeremy's car was in the driveway, so she knew that he had to be home.
She tried turning the door knob and it was unlocked, so she took the liberty of walking inside. She called for Jeremy, but not loud enough to hear throughout the house. She decided to look in the office upstairs, but when she went passed the bedroom, she heard voices. So she decided to knock and walk in. When she did, she found Jeremy and her husband lying on the bed kissing.
"Karen honey; it's not what it looks like." said Greg
"Oh and what do you think it looks like Greg? Ha, what do you think it looks like?" asked Karen
"I know it looks bad, but let me explain." said Greg
"Explain what; that you've been having an affair with another man. Explain that our whole entire marriage has been a lie." said Karen
"No it hasn't, honey, I love you." said Greg
"No. Even if you did love me, it wouldn't matter, because you are never seeing me or the kids ever again. I want you out of the house and out of our lives." said Karen
She left, so angry that her face was literally turning red. She ran down the stairs and out the front door without even closing it. She ran back to her house, and into her bedroom, onto her bed and began to cry. She cried so hard she was running out of breath.
Tim Snider, who was home sick from school, heard all of the commotion and wandered into his parent's bedroom to see what the matter was. She told him that her and his father, were getting a divorce, but she would not tell him why.
She wasn't ready to accept the reason herself, do she wasn't about to tell one of the kids. He kept on asking her, but all she did was get mad. In all of this, Tim heard someone enter the house. When e went to go see who it was, it was his father. He ran downstairs demanding an answer as to why his parents were getting a divorce.
"Son, some sit down with me. We need to talk." said Greg
"Damn straight we need to talk. What did you do to hurt mom?" asked Tim
"Just come sit down on the couch and we'll discuss it calmly or we won't discuss it at all." said Greg
"Okay, I'm sitting, now tell me what you did." demanded Tim
"There's something about me that you have to know first, Tim." said Greg
"I have been all of my life. I just haven't been able to accept it."
"Hey! Don't use that type of language."
"Oh excuse me, but my dad just told me he's gay, aren't I allowed to be little pissed off." said Tim
"Of course you are. And now to the part where me and your mother are getting a divorce; she caught me with another man, Tim." said Greg
"I don't wanna hear that, you being gay was reason enough for you and mom to get a divorce." said Tim
Tim was angry; he was frustrated. He didn't know what to do, so he went up to his room and locked himself in until he knew that Luke would be home from school. He knew that if he could talk to anyone, it would be him. He'd known Ken longer, but for some reason he trusted to Luke to have the right words to say. As soon as he saw Luke's car pull by his house, he got changed and started to walk over to his house and knocked loudly on the door, and Casey answered.
"Okay, come in. I'll call him down here for you." said Casey
"That's okay, can you just tell me where his room is?" asked Tim
"Sure it the second door on the right." said Casey
"Thanks." said Tim as he made his way up the stairs.
"Luke, its Tim, can I come in?" asked Tim as he knocked on Luke's door."
"I need to talk to you." said Tim as he walked in
"Sure, have a seat." said Luke directing him to the other chair in his room
"I don't know any other way to say this, so I'm just going to say it." said Tim as he sat down
"My dad just told me that he's gay." said Tim
"You knew and you didn't tell me!" Tim was pretty mad
"Ken and I were at the new gay club downtown, and we saw him there, with Jeremy Craig." said Luke
"Why didn't you tell me anything?" asked Tim
"For one it's not my business to be telling, and two, he asked me not to, and I told him that I would." said Luke
"You know what? First of all; you have almost no right to be this angry. Second of all; you have no right at all to be angry with me." said Luke
"Because you have no idea how hard it is to go through what your father is going through, and you will never know the pain that someone goes through when this is their reality. Also, you have no right to be angry with me because all I did was listen to and be supportive of your dad, something you're definitely not doing right now. Not to mention, I urged your dad to tell you and your family, but he didn't want to hurt you, he loves you to much."
"But this isn't about you." said Luke
"Of course it is. If he had stayed single and never had us kids in the first place, that's different, and then it would've been about him. But he had a family, and now all of this affects us too."
"Okay, you may be right about that, but you have to remember that you're not the only one who's hurting in this. Your dad has gone through a lot, and he needs your support because like it or not, gay or straight, he's still your father." said Luke
"Huh, I knew that you could help me with this. I'm sorry about blowing up at you." said Tim
"No, its okay, it can't be easy hearing something like that from your father." said Luke
"How did you ever become so understanding?" asked Tim
Luke got up from his chair and sat on the bed right next to the chair that Tim was sitting on.
"Well, I just try and see both sides and try to find reasons to support both sides. I mean I can understand why you are mad at your dad for not telling you, but I can also see why he didn't. You just have to care for him just as he cared for you." said Luke
At that moment, Tim got closer to Luke. He leaned in towards his face and kissed him, and not the friendly kind of kiss, he French kissed him. As soon as this happened, Luke pulled away in shock.
"Whoa, whoa, what are you doing?" asked Luke
"Yes I know, but why. You're not…"
"I would say that you're upset right now and that you were very confused." said Luke
"But I want you. I'm serious." said Tim, right before trying to kiss Luke again
"Wait, no, even if you were sure that you're…whatever you are, I'm with Ken, and I'm not going to hurt him like that, I love him to much." said Luke
"Oh my God, you know what I need to come back later. Is that ok?" asked Tim
"Sure, come back when your head is cleared and you're not as upset." said Luke.
