Chapter 1: Leaving
Nothing seemed to be going right for me but when has my life ever went as I expected it to go especially in this shitty village I call a home. Staring out my window as my foot tapped against the mattress I was on, watching the black stormy clouds coming in, I smiled as a crack of lightning struck the ground. I always loved a good thunderstorm, maybe it's cause I was born in one. Heh...who knows anymore not like anyone would care besides the little family I have.
My name is Elysia, I was given the breathe of life by my human mother and fallen angel father which means I'm a nephilim. Something that everyone especially the men here hate. As soon I was born I was always shunned by the village people here cause I never looked liked them, I mean with their main features: Brown hair, gold eyes and tan skin; which showed you were the same as them. I on the other hand was born with silvery blue hair and lightning blue eyes with flawless pale white skin.
Ever since I was young I was never allowed outside my house's walls. My mother and father said people wouldn't understand or accept me for who I was once they just took a glance at me. Being young at that age I was rebellious and curious and didn't know what they meant so at the young age of six I ventured out the place I called home in the middle of day since they both weren't home and figured they were probably joking with me and wanted to find out why I couldn't leave. How foolish and funny is now to think how naive I was.
That day for the first time in my life I saw something that would forever make my hatred for men, the men here that is I can't judge others. Like my father who is unlike the men here. There my mother lay on the cold, muddy ground from the rain from earlier that day being whipped and beaten with large sticks as they held her down. I tried to run towards her but then one of the men grabbed me and shoved me to the ground as I screamed her name as tears streaming down my face as they continuously beat her; soon a crowd was forming outside watching the scene unfold, not saying a word.
Questions ran through my head as I looked at their blank, emotionless expressions just watching this injustice unfold: why weren't they helping? Isn't this wrong?! Why? WHY?! More questions seem to spin through my head as I thought about it and instead of sadness it was replaced with pure anger and hatred as I turned back to her as I felt something deep inside me festering and building to a point it wanted to burst. This was also the day everyone realized I was truly different from them.
The clouds in the sky began to swirl around above me turning pitch black, the sound of booming thunder echoed in the air, as the crack of lightning crackled against the ground around the crowd causing little yelps of fear and pain as I felt something prickling at my skin. A ear-piercing scream left my lips as a force so strong bucked the men holding me, and bolt of lightning struck the men that was holding down and beating my mother as I slowly rose off the ground as the rain poured down as a blue aura swirling around my form as I took deep ragged breathes and little did I know wings had sprouted from my back as well.
That day was hell and the rest of my life following day was just a continuation for it. Today was my seventeenth birthday which meant I was soon to meet my "mate to be" soon. Like hell I would. I'm not getting married to no fucker here, to hell with that. When my birthday was drawing near I knew this was going to happen it was a custom to which they hold every girl at the age of seventeen to meet their man to be soon who they have to wait on hand and foot; I was going to fit that bill well and began to pack my things already until the day was here.
A faint knock from my door stirred me from my thoughts as I tore my gaze from my window and to the door.
"Come in," I called as I watched the doorknob slowly turned and my mother stepped inside shutting the door behind her with her hands behind her. My mom also looked different from the others in this town and they always made her where all these cloths to hid her beauty. She had long silver, curly hair with faint tips of black at the ends with a slender figure with curvy hips and sharp face features since her face was narrow. She was wearing one her worn out long short-sleeve rag dresses that went down to her ankles since she couldn't afford much of other clothing since they paid her less where she worked and it covered most her injuries. Father usually brought her back dresses and other clothing since they treated her like this.
"I see your all packed up to go?" She asked looking up at me with her motherly gaze as I nodded slowly at her and she released a sigh. She really hated me going and tried to convince me to stay as well from earlier today but they ended in a fight about me leaving and why I was up here in the first place. But that was not my only reason for deciding to leave; I wanted to prove that girls could be just as strong as me and as of lately a numerous amount of earthquakes was shaking about in Tidmea and unheard of beasts have also began spreading around Tidmea wracking havoc upon our world. This could be my chance to prove just how strong we as women could be.
"Alright you don't mind giving your old mother a hug before you go right?" She asked, her silent pleading in her eyes as I smiled and got up as she held her arms out and went over wounding my arms around her form.
"I'll be fine mother, I'm like father like you always said," I whispered in her ear and she only tighten her grip on me staying silent as the thunder boomed outside. Her light shaking in my arms was a indicator she was about to cry as I lightly rubbed her back. "Shh relax mom I'll be back one day, don't cry on me now." I murmured in her ear as we both pulled away a bit so I could stare into her eyes as she sniffed.
"You better write everyday or call me or your father at least, and be careful. You may be my child but you apparently didn't get my pacifist nature," She teased a small smile forming on her lips. She was trying to make this happy at least even though I knew it was killing her inside.
"It wouldn't have done me any good since I'm not as civil and polite as you," I said as she rolled her eyes, shaking her head.
"You got your father's foul mouth and brash personality."
"But you love him for it, plus he's a real charmer with that mouth." I chimed and watched as her pale cheeks lit up in a light pink shade of of color.
"Heh I'm very hard to resist," A deep, cocky voice chimed as a strong arm wrapped around my mother's shoulders and chuckled as a small yelp released from her lips, as he chuckled kissing her head with a light peck. "I can always get you like that." He stated, her lips jutted out as she crossed her arms against her chest in a light pout. My father unlike my mother is more violent and runs on the rules of Karma. He has short, dark tousled hair with the tips of a faint blue color, lightning blue eyes, a wide body build and pale skin and stood a good six feet when me and my mom was somewhere at the 5'5 feet tall.
"Cocky bastard," She said.
"But I'm your cocky bastard." He said as she huffed leaning against him as he rolled his eyes as they flickered to my form. "I see my baby girl is really leaving us, I'll be keeping my eye on you from afar. Just call when you need it and happy birthday." he said as his other hand he was holding behind his back handed me a large bag that felt heavy as shit. I gave him a raise of my eyebrow as he quickly looked away a smirk playing at his lips and looking to my mother she shrugged but she didn't meet my gaze either.
Setting the bag on my bed I began to look through it and gasped loudly as I pulled out pieces of armor (Refer to the armor in the picture. That's what she looks like.) and laid it out on my bed turning to them as they both had smiles on their faces.
"Happy birthday Elysia. As much as I don't condemn with you leaving I know you wouldn't be happy here and would like you to leave this hell hole as well so you don't get married to one of these assholes," My mother said and I could feel the tears prickling at my eyes but I wouldn't let them fall as I hugged them tightly and felt them squeeze back in equal amount.
"Love you guys." I whispered.
"We love you too," They whispered back as we all released each other and they both soon left the room. Changing out of my shorts and t-shirt I quickly slipped into the armor and it was a perfect fit. They must have been planning this for awhile now. So I was really doing this...it be awhile before I see my parents again or this wretched hell hole I thought as I grabbed my messenger bag with clothes, weapons and some utensils I would need along my journey. Luckily my dad taught me to fight and snuck me out into the forest a lot when I was younger. Opening my window and standing on the window sill as the wind blew softly on my skin as I jumped off and landed on my feet.
We lived near the forest so all I had to do was run which is what I did until I was lost into the distance. Just run as the ran beatening down my skin. I was escaping a place that a hell hole and also a home. Leaving to finally be free...
