The unwritten promise

""I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."

Has there ever been a moment in your life where you have provoked thoughts… or rather experienced the inexplicable emotion of the unwritten promise?

She drifted in and out of thought, as she imagined one would drift in and out of sleep when one was anxious. She seemed entangled and confused, the evidence offered no solution to the puzzling case that lay in front of her. She thought of herself as rather bright person and over the years had become a head over heart person, yet this time round the task seemed like a scientific equation that simply provoked and taunted her.

All the motion pictures of this time seem to conspire against the cynical people of this world, the stories are always filled with hope and heart ache maybe these things are a true reflection of our time, maybe the illusions we have is being able to escape those things unscathed. She had met many new people throughout her life, she realized some were for a season, some for a reason and others seemed to stay a little longer. She had taught herself to hang back, to hold on tight to feelings as often they were fleeting.

Everyone always wants to have a love of their life, that's often what people aspire to. Maybe the love of your life isn't the person you end up with, maybe the love of your life is the person that continues to motivate you to reach your full potential, maybe you have more than one love of your life? She had fought the feeling for so long, she had denied it, conspired against and even tried to disregard it as a passing phase. She realized that love seemed to transform over time, it no longer lingered in the superficial pool of all things romantic, it moved to being a pearl locked inside an oyster in the depth of a gigantic ocean.

Her epiphany offered new evidence, that silence, time and growth might have tamed the connection but it had never disappeared or disintegrated. That words could provide more warmth than a raging fire on a winter's day, The connection that should have never begun was the same connection that would never go away. Even though they wouldn't reunite in the real world as friends, or witness important events in each others' lives or continued to remain estranged, no matter the amount of hurt or mistakes they inflicted upon one another…

She finally embraced the fact this was a part of her, she wouldn't yell it from the roof tops but she knew it and it didn't make her weak in fact it was one of the reasons she had become strong. She had discovered that thing that people longed for and even though she knew it would never return because it had never really left her, it remained in the corner of her shy heart, there her best friend, confidante and soul mate would reside… surrounded by the hope of happiness and well being throughout time

This was her unwritten promise to her long lost yet never forgotten love…
