CIRRHOSIS is scar tissue that takes over healthy tissue obstructing the blood flow to the liver. CIRRHOSIS kills about 26,000 people each year. It is the twelveth leading cause of death in this country. Much more needs to be done to find more effective treatments for the causes of this disease. Some of the classic symptoms are: abdominal pain, exhaustion, loss of appetite, nausea, weakness, and fatigue. Many people are asymptomatic in the beginning of the disease. There can be many complications with CIRRHOSIS they can range from gallstones, brusing and bleeding to portal hypertension. Liver daomage is always permanent and not reversible. Treatment for CIRRHOSIS depends what the main cause of the disease is. If CIRRHOSIS was caused by alcohol abuse the person would have to stop using alchol. The treatments for hepatitis realated CIRRHOSIS varies with each disease. Many medications can be used at this time.
