The day before his wedding, he wrote a letter to his love and leaves a lot of "thanks" in the wedding cards. In it he tells her to meet him in the Remo, if she loves him. She arrives, and Richard kisses her, but it turned out that Caroline did not receive any letter. Richard realizes that since Carolina is about to marry From no place in his life for him and decides to leave Manhattan. Caroline and Del decide not to marry, behind Richard. Visit Caroline's apartment only to discover that Richard is gone, and as she read the letter he did not know why.
The second season began with Text Your Ex Back Richard selling enough boxes for your stay in Paris and returned to Manhattan. Carolina gave him the box of "Thank You" cards with his love letter to a friend, and ends in his apartment. She made several copies and plans to present to Carolina, but Richard convinced her not to. Richard returned to his old job as his colorist. Annie uses the letter to blackmail him, but stopped after his sister used the note to see the lyrics of a song.
Caroline later discovers he has feelings for Richard, when suddenly met in Manhattan with her former Italian girlfriend Julia, but when Caroline leaves a voicemail saying that she loves him Julia erased. Then Richard and Julia were married, prompting a bitter love triangle between the three.
