The day before his wedding, he wrote a letter to his love and leaves a lot of "thanks" in the wedding cards. In it he tells her to meet him in the Remo, if she loves him. She arrives, and Richard kisses her, but it turned out that Caroline did not receive any letter. Caroline later discovers he has feelings for Richard, when suddenly met in Manhattan with her former Italian girlfriend Julia, but when Caroline leaves a voicemail saying that she loves him Julia erased. Then Richard and Julia were married, prompting a bitter love triangle between the three.
