There he is, fifteen years old
A family event, with a drink in his hand
He parents let him
Only for tonight, they said
Because tonight is special
It's the night that would ruin his life.
There he is, 30 years old
At a bar, with a drink in his hand
He ordered it,
And he will pay for this
For years and years to come
There he is, the way he is now
At home, with a drink in his hand
Something his friends can control
Because they drink, and they drink
Until their drinks run dry
But my dad, you see
He is different
His drinks are never dry
He'll drink until they are
But we know that day will never come.
Because my dad is different.
