The Territorial Rules
During the American Civil War Era, a time when courageous men fought for freedom and liberation, there was a growing decline in the sword and a shift towards technological warfare. In 1861, a war was engaged between the northern states referred to as the Union and the southern states, the Confederacy. The outcome of this would set the dominant ideological path for the majority to follow. The Union's goals were to liberate, to give men their freedom. However the Confederacy preferred a society organized through slave labour. Whilst the Union had their own territorial states to retain control of from the Confederacy, there were other endeavours occurring behind the scenes.
At this time, California part of the Union had been booming with wealth due to the establishment of many gold mines. A large amount of people had migrated there especially Europeans. To them, America is land of opportunity where ideas, investing and hard work could push you to the top to live a comfortable life. Hidden in the mists of it all was the Himura Family that managed to get its hands in plenty of shares of business enterprises which included gold mines such as the Argonaut Mine, the Weaverhille Mine, the Auburn Ravine and the Trinity Cooperative. Their relative control as shareholders in such affairs was kept at a distance for the means of profits and their security. Unknown to all, the Himura Family had a secret to retaining their wealth and this was through supernatural elements. However, they were not the only local family to thrive in such ways.
Their household was situated in the outskirts of Hanford in California. It was an old mansion but a prosperous one. The Himura Family had lived there for generations aside from a young hooded figure, dressed in brown approaching the entrance gates. The night was peaceful, and the rain fell slowly. It was almost as if time was shifting at a pace based on the presence of these superior and immortal entities. Yes that's right, the Himura's are Vampires. They require blood to survive and they feed on humans and animals. But they aren't murderers and it is all part of the family secret where they operate in silence. As this figure approached the mansion, the gates automatically opened as if they were enchanted to only allow those granted with access. Peering upwards the face of this hidden one is revealed. He is a young male no older than 20 years old gazing fourth at the master room facing the front garden of the mansion. Briefly, a shadowy image of a tall man is seen waiting for him by the windowsill.
The hooded figure's name is Husa although he simply prefers to be called Himura. He enters the large ceiled doors of the mansion which are opened by the family's frontman, Artemus and Malcolm.
"Good day Himura", Artemus welcomes Husa to the household. Unfortunately Malcolm is far more silent than his fellow brother and says nothing. Husa acknowledges them both with a downwards smile almost as if he was grinning but not quite there yet and gives them an upwards nod. It was a sign of respect for his elder members of the brotherhood. Unlike Husa, the other 2 were in well-dressed suits, wearing top hats and stood like Gentleman. Used to walking through the incredibly huge staircase of the household, Husa sighs and says "It never gets old walking up these stairs, it never really does."
Peering through the window, the head of the Himura Family, Thorian Himura awaits his companion's arrival. He seems to be thinking deeply about something that is unsettling him. Husa arrives with news that would prove as such.
"What you felt? They are out there…" says Husa. He slowly takes off his hood. His hair is dark red, like a dried up blood stain. However, what is visually unravelled is rather daunting. Husa is missing a chunk of his left ear. This seems to have been an injury he must have got in the past. His right ear also appears have sharp ear tips unlike most natural rounded ears and as he speaks both ears seem to vibrate. This is tied to his special powers which all vampires have. With authority, Thorian rests his head back slightly raising his jaw to assert his dominance as the ruler. He's a far older vampire than Husa and has lived for hundreds of years. Although he has long grey hair, looking at his facial features and skin tone, he would look no older than his physical mid 20's. Thorian turns around, to see his loyal comrade and says, "You will be my right hand…" Husa returns his words with an upwards nod and a slight bow paying his respect to the Himura Head.
"We must tell the others" states Thorian. He begins to walk towards the opened door of his room followed by Husa for the task that is set in hand.
Moments later, at the main hallway of the mansion the Himura Family are discussing an urgent matter which threatens their brotherhood. All gathered for immediate action, there are 7 members circled around Thorian, their ruler. Located more to the left of the hallway are Thorian's loyal frontman, Malcolm and Artemus. They are no longer wearing their suits but like the others are dressed in clothing more suited for combat. These are dark robes tightened up at specific ligaments and joints in their bodies to allow easy movement. All of their robes have hoods but aren't like the hood Husa was wearing earlier which was much more loose. They are also all wearing gothic styled boots that would be quite heavy for normal people. In the middle of the semi-circle round Thorian's yield are 2 female vampires who go by the name of Hemphia and Vell. These intimidating females bare incredibly large and heavy swords upon their backs. Stood right by them to the right is Husa. He is easily identified standing out to the rest due to his hair colour. Aside from Thorian who has white hair, the rest of the Family all have brown and black hair. He looks at his left realising this could get ugly. Hemphia and Vell are members of the brotherhood who never really fight that often but when ordered to they are ruthless. They seem to both have crude smiles on their faces which send Husa in a state of wondrous speculation as to why. In a general sense they look fragile but wielding such weaponry at this particular moment takes this mental effect out of Husa's mind for the upcoming endeavour. The last 2 members of the Himura Family located by Husa's right are Ukaid and Tek. Ukaid is physically the strongest member in terms of brute strength standing at 7 feet tall you would be a fool to challenge him head on. He also has a scar on the right of his forehead showing that he can take recoil. Tek, although not really that short is the shortest male in the brotherhood. He is slightly older than Husa and is just under 6ft. His height compares to that of the female members Hemphia and Vell. Equipped to his waist belt are 2 extremely sharp daggers. Husa quickly assesses his ally's characteristics and believes him to specialize in speed although he has never really seen Tek in combat. He's only trained with the head of the family and fought with Ukaid to refine his skills. The discussion is already in progress.
"As you know we have a problem that needs dealing with…" says Himura.
"Then what are we waiting for, let us get rid of them now" replies Vell.
"Don't be too hasty" Malcolm quietly returns her frustration. He's aware of how some of the younger vampires like to solve problems without thinking critically about the situation first. Even so, to mere humans, Vell is over 50 years old.
"We don't even know what we are up against. If it's another family then this could get ugly." Artemus contributes.
"And if it is then what? Do we really kill them? There are rules to follow but what now? We are becoming extinct…" argues Malcolm.
"Even still, we can't allow whoever is causing those murders to get away with it. It'll will come back and bite us in the ass. Not only that but we live here and this is our home. This issue could expose us to the public. We can't have that…" replies Husa.
"My, my who would have thought our youngest member would speak with such wisdom" Hemphia is intrigued by his words.
Thorian steps up to enforce the orders. "I have taken what you have all said into account. You're right Malcolm, we can't be hasty. This time I think it's best if we stick together. I won't have anyone going lone wolf on this one."
After a brief sharp stare at Husa, Thorian quickly looks at his loyal frontman. He receives their acknowledgement as they upwardly nod at him. He then lays his hand on the shoulder of Hemphia, his second in command.
"We'll approach this situation with caution together and I will decide what we'll do about it."
"Agreed", his frontman reply. Husa shakes his head in agreement accepting their consenting contribution to the solidarity of the group. In no time the rest of the brotherhood accept Thorian's order. Locked in stare with their charismatic leader, Hemphia blushes but returns to her formal state almost immediately. She and Thorian proceed fourth out of the main hall with the rest ready to aid them in the possible battle ahead.
The Family proceed through the outer forests of Hanford to track their enemies once and for all. The time it should take for them to do so will be incredibly fast because Vampires are 10 times faster than humans and generally around 10 times stronger but this can vary depending on their special abilities. For example Husa's analysis of Tek's movements reveals that from the paste they are moving, this is quite slow for him. Also their stamina is also tenfold and with these factors in hand would mean it would be no time before they found their prey. They used the darkness and the trees to remain hidden within the mists. Thorian, leading the brotherhood could feel the threat ahead and believed that they were gathering up as a reaction to them. As his guard, Husa can already anticipate what he is thinking.
"They are just ahead, it seems" says Husa ready for the order to strike.
"Hold it" replies Thorian as the others stop immediately taking shelter towards the shadows of the trees.
"What is it?" Vell seems agitated by the sudden pause. She was just about to unleash the might of her heavy blade.
"There's something not right here. I believe they may have noticed we are coming for them but their reaction towards our presence, its unnatural." states Thorian. With Thorian trying to sense the supposed enemy, he shifts into focus. The others replicate his predatory tactics. Husa fortunately is the most talented at this. His ears grant him the ability to feel the natural environment at a distance with ease without truly having to tap into a trance. This means at this point in time he was the only member of the brotherhood without his eyes glowing in the distance. Thorian was right though, their possible enemies were gathering ahead but not in an aggressive manner but of an aversive one.
"I see it now that makes sense." Thorian says. He had gathered the necessary information to attack. However this wasn't going to be a killing blow, he wanted to defeat his enemies to know why they are in this territory predicting they might not be who he thought they were. There was a strange inner feeling of unease and attraction deciphering his mind. He makes a hand signal to the rest of the brotherhood. Vell is puzzled as to why they would be approaching the situation this way because she wants to spill their blood. They engage with an entrapment formation and charge from the distance. Beforehand as the threat is interacting with each other, Husa notices a young female talking amongst the remaining 4 of them. They seemed quite noble and bold. She however, her beauty was something he could not deny. It was as if his emotions were getting the better of him and he asked himself "Is this all trickery?"
Although they did not know it quite yet aside from Thorian's possible speculative guess, the 5 in the unknown pack to the Himura's were rare blood types. They too had existed for centuries but rarely came into conflict with Vampires. The leader of their family centrally stood amongst the group was a man of average height and with black hair, Marimbo Lovecraft. He is a well-built man similar to Thorian's age but like him looking no older than his mid-20's and presenting himself with great wisdom of the ages as he interacted with his fellow underlings. Vampires and rare blood types tend to stay in their youth for eternity unless they were killed.
"This place is marvellous and I can't wait to see our new home" says the female Husa got flustered over whose name is Moriaty. She seems incredibly joyful and almost too peaceful. This was why Husa was having difficulty staying focused. He was specifically targeting her for the kill.
"Agon and Salerius said they will meet us back home" replied a large male named Brock. He is a sturdy man, and from Husa's basic assessment seemed to be their leader's guardian standing right by his side. This reminded Husa of his role in the family and that he would have to be prepared for almost anything. As the Himura's were charging forwards, it hit them that there were more of them lurking behind the scenes.
"Just how many are there?" Tek says to himself silently. He too like Thorian is quite the cautious warrior. It was too late at this point to pause or pull back because they had breached territorial boundaries that would trigger their current enemy's awareness.
Slumping lazily, another member of the Lovecraft Family could feel an odd sensation in the wind. His name was Basil; he was strange fella with both his hands tucked into his pockets. The Lovecraft's were all well dressed and presented themselves as Noble's but this man broke such norms with his abnormal personality. He normally tends to stare into space but is actually quite alert of his surroundings most of the time. His hair is also messy unlike the rest and he was easily identified as the odd one out of the group. Feeling his senses were more important than his leader's bantering about such matters that bored him, Basil moves to nudge another member of the Lovecraft's to get his attention. This man's name is Sigmund standing tall with both hands pointing down straight and built like a soldier. The way Basil nudged him, Sigmund automatically gathered his meaning as to why he was being disturbed as in past endeavours Basil made a habit of doing this in a serious life threatening situation. Understanding this, Sigmund looks at the Lovecraft's iron guard with uneasiness shifting from his formal stature to a tense one. His fists are clenched and ready for combat.
"Get down!" Brock pushes his leader over to the side ready to protect him. With Marimbo now cast a measurable distance away, it is at this critical point that the Himura's strike the Lovecraft's.
Thorian with his bare hands attempts to give the Lovecraft head a death strike to the neck but Brock manages to shield him blocking it with both hands crossed. Assisted by Thorian's assault is Vell with her mighty heavy blade. She roars "Companion!" in an attempt to disembowel Brock's defence which is the name of her trusty weapon. However she fails direly underestimating the Lovecraft family guard. Whilst Thorian unleashes another killing strike but this time aimed at the heart of Brock who stands in his way, Brock kicks Vell aside like she is nothing only to grab the Himura's heads right arm tightly in lock. Thorian can see this is going to be a much tougher battle than he expected. Vell is sent flying into a nearby tree stem which she indents. Moriaty, the only female of the Lovecraft family at this point in time is in shock, she turns towards her left quickly to notice Husa rushing towards her. Like an after image Husa appears right in front of her but he is confused by her reactions. He was expecting to kill her instantly but something deep within him prevented him from doing so. For a slight second, Moriaty now in a more defensive stance is staring into the eyes of her rival for this battle. She wasn't used to fighting anyway. Too be honest only the Lovecraft guardian Brock and Sigmund were the physical muscle in their family but everyone had their special traits. She jumps backwards cautiously to get some space from her opponent and changes her physical stance to an aggressive one feeling intimidated by Husa's calm, confident and unmovable stature. Husa wasn't used to killing enemies unless he felt threatened by them and he could only feel the innocence within her heart. He quickly peered across the scenery to notice Thorian carrying on his engaging assault on Brock and they seemed almost equal in battle. Brock having the upper hand in power and technique, but Thorian's wisdom in combat could rival him with his complex strategic attacks. Moriaty turns to see what is occurring around her. The Himura's are attempting to kill her and her family so she panics. Hemphia nearly succeeds in stabbing Marimbo in the back after he lands on the floor but luckily the Lovecraft leader manages to instantly get on his feet avoid the deadly attack.
"What is this?" he murmurs struggling to understand the situation at hand. This is when Tek shows up with his extreme speed and his daggers come flying forward severely puncturing Marimbo's left shoulder.
"Bulls eye" says Tek. He jumps down from the tree beside Marimbo to land around 90 degrees from Hemphia surrounding their target. Basil, the strangest member of the Lovecraft's steps up for the challenge. "I wouldn't do that if I were you. Fighting 2 on 1 is for cowards" he says.
"Who's the frizzy hair?" replies Tek. Hemphia looks to her left to notice him too. It seems the Himura's are targeting who they would regard as the stronger members of the Lovecraft's before getting rid of the weaker members. However, they are far mistaken for believing this abnormal fella is a weakling because of his uncanny appearance.
"You should take better care of yourself, boy!" she mocks him. Hemphia valuing appearance, purity and grace is disgusted by his presence. To show her confidence, she poses with her left elbow raised and bent placing her hand on her thigh. As the wind brushes past Basil's face, his eyes close then he slowly raises his hand in the air and then vigorously pulls it back preparing for an attack.
"Huh?" Tek is curious of his hand movements. Normally someone like him rarely paused for a moment during an assault. From a measurable distance from his enemies, Basil throws a punch at both Tek and Hemphia but this is no regular blow. The damage they receive comes from the wind and it is as if they are punched in the gut by the air itself.
"When did he…" falling to her feet Hemphia is rendered incapacitated. She takes the full power surge of his attack but Tek only relatively receives the hit. With his intense speed, he jumps back a few steps to evade the attack managing to avoid getting the full spectrum.
"This is going to be much tougher than I thought" he says stumbling to catch his balance.
When this all kicked off from the start, Sigmund was fully prepared to defend himself from the 2 frontman Malcolm and Artemus. They clash fists and due to underestimating their opponent they are currently no match for his superior combat skills. However, a large dark figure embellishes the shadows of the trees and Sigmund hears the thunderous footsteps of this giant. He's nervous and whilst the conflict between both families is breaking out these footsteps are getting louder. They reveal it to be Ukaid who enters the battle with an evil smirk.
"You're finished!" he charges at Sigmund who is already having difficulty holding his own against the frontmen. Before he performs the crushing blow on Sigmund, Marimbo appears out of nowhere below to use the force of the charging Titan against him. Using his right hand not affected by his injury, he flips him aside and throws him into the frontman to their surprise. This was Marimbo's special ability allowing him to warp or teleport to locations a short and limited distance ahead of himself.
"Why are they attacking us? I didn't think this place was so hostile" says Sigmund.
"They're vamps!" screams out Moriaty as soon as she notices one of Husa's teeth appearing over his lips.
"What?" Marimbo confused by the whole situation notices Moriaty's life is in danger. He looks at Sigmund and bites his lip which acts as a signal to his ally to let him know that he has to act quickly and hold his own for a while in the struggle. He's spotted his next target to shadow stalk, his name for his unique talent. He pulls out the 2 daggers from his left shoulder throwing 1 on the floor but deciding to utilize the other with a grunt and a devious smile.
This doesn't stop Brock and Thorian's brawl. It only makes them more aware that they have to act with the pressure and tension that their comrades may need their aid. Vell barely gets up from the heavy hit she took previously. Rushing, she quickly looks at her target Brock and begins to draw her companion located 2 feet from her to her grasp. Her specialty is telekinesis and she is especially gifted at moving metallic objects. This time she wasn't going to make a fool out of herself, looking incredibly serious and prepared to give her enemy payback. She is now almost ready to use her telekinetic powers to launch the sword at the right moment, when a good opportunity presents itself.
At that moment, Husa realizes that he is holding his family back due to his failure to kill off his opponent when he had the chance. He charges at Moriaty who is barely able to react naturally, her body trembling in fear. He taunts her with the same manoeuvre and another after image of himself appears in front of her causing her to flinch. However this time, with her left hand prepared she attempts to swiftly chop her opponent in the neck but afterwards realises she has missed. With the illusive trick successful Husa appears from behind Moriaty to grapple her ready for the kill. His first action resorts to Moriaty losing the freedom of her left hand which was used to strike the tactician. He quickly twists her arm placing her in a locked position ready to snap them and intending to immediately break her neck afterwards. Just before Husa would end Moriaty for good, fate plays into her cards. It is fortunate for her that at this crucial moment, Marimbo appears before Vell with the same dagger that had struck him prior. Vell gulps in despair. Her companion falls down to bash the ground with a loud thud!
"Stop this at once!" Marimbo shouts. Husa prevented from murdering but still tightly holding Moriaty shifts his attention and turns his eyes to the Lovecraft head. Everyone stops fighting as both families become aware of the dire situation they are in. Husa has Moriaty's life by his grasp as does Marimbo with Vell. Ironically, the very same knife that nearly killed the Lovecraft head is piercing the Vell's neck and he's slowly digging in. He does this to show his seriousness to complete the act had they not all had abided by his terms. Thorian stepping slightly back to gain some distance from his foe says to himself, "Damn, I never anticipated they were this strong, what now?"
"Vell...wait…" shouts Tek.
"Wait you say, you pulled the first attack on us" says Marimbo.
"That's because you're in our territory, we have good reason" replies Thorian.
Hemphia gets up on her feet to quickly dust of the mess on her clothes. She further elaborates "You've been causing too much bloodshed in our land and we can't have that."
"Yeah, you see this zone here's ours and we live among the humans not against them. We won't have anyone going rabid here." Tek smoothly speeds forward and slickly joins Thorian's heed.
"We aren't rabid animals you fools and we don't like blood either" replies Sigmund.
"Yeah we are nothing like you freaks" says Brock.
"Well this is turning out to be an odd endeavour might I say" Basil puts his hands in his pockets and walks closer to the rest of them. All of them have now packed up around their threatened family members, confused and also ready for the next action. Husa weakens his grip slightly but realising if he does any further, then Moriaty could escape so he immediately tightens it again. Like Thorian, he has already gathered it too, they aren't what they seem and they aren't the enemies they seek. However, now Vell's life is threatened, the family needs leeway. As a younger vampire closer to Husa's age, Vell shows she fears death and her eyes reveal her hopelessness. This is also reflected by the blood that is dripping from the wound in her throat. Marimbo will go deeper to disembowel her neck if the Himura's make the wrong move.
"I don't get it, if they are not skinwalkers or vampires then what the fuck are they?" says Ukaid slightly tilting his head.
"You aren't normal that's for sure…" Husa whispers. Moriaty looks back surprised to hear the predator speak.
"We are rare blood types" Brock proudly states. "You could say we are as human as you can get. Our blood is completely clean and we come from a race of the original humans that walked this planet."
"I see now, I guess I should trust my senses more rather than use my rationality." replies Thorian.
"Is that why you paused and changed our assault strategy?" says Hemphia.
"It seems so and with good reason. Everyone, we fight no more." Thorian gives the order.
"Let her go Himura…" Husa instantly obeys his superior. Moriaty stumbles slightly forward to retain her posture. She puts her right hand on her left shoulder with one eye tensely closed which reflects her pain. Thorian gracefully steps forward openly presenting himself without killing intent.
"Apologies, we believed you to be a threat but that was my mistake. Recently, there have been mysterious killings at our mines and in the Hanford plains. It's sabotaging our business and drawing attention from the federation. This is why we thought you were the ones responsible and we've never seen you around before."
"I don't mean to be rude, but you shouldn't all be wandering around like that at this hour. Just what did you expect from us?" Hemphia contributes.
"I didn't expect anything, its kind off…our tradition." Marimbo lets go of Vell. Relieved, she wipes the blood off her neck to not lose face and her wounds automatically begin to heal. She then steps slightly back from Marimbo who proceeds to explain their reason for wandering around so late.
"We usually settle down for at most 20 years before moving on to new lands. I suppose it's kind of our way of not drawing attention to ourselves. It's been a long time since I've met vampires, a very long time indeed…" he concludes.
"We are the Lovecraft's and my name is Marimbo" he proudly introduces himself as the family head.
"So you're new in town?" asks Ukaid.
"Yeah, we've just moved in. We haven't come here to cause any trouble" replied Moriaty. "This is the first time I've ever travelled to somewhere new, it's kind of exciting."
"Whoa?" Ukaid is astonished by her beauty, it renders him speechless and Husa can see this. It was the first time he had ever seen his sparring partner so flustered, he smirks realising that he too upon gazing at her had briefly lost himself for a moment. Now he didn't feel like the only one weakened by such purity and less ashamed of his poorer performance in battle. The thing that surprised him was how she automatically changed and became friendlier with ease as if this was part of her natural personality traits. She continues to smile as Marimbo explains part of the Lovecraft culture. "You see our family has a bad habit of scouting new territories. We do this for our protection preparing us for future events. Considering we pretty much moved in today, that's the reason we are randomly lurking at this hour and we are going to do more assessment in this area for the following few weeks."
"Well if you're going to live here, there are territorial terms we must discuss" says Thorian.
"I would agree" replied Marimbo. "You'll also need to be careful, there are dark forces around, an enemy unseen" says Thorian.
The Himura's and the Lovecraft's begin to get acquainted but still remain suspicious of each other. They explain their lifestyles and what businesses they currently locally own and have shares in. They also intimidatingly both suggest which ones in California to not interfere with and a pact is formed.
Thorian and Marimbo shake hands with their family members by their side. Brock however is still disgusted by the site of them and Husa takes note of this by his attitude and facial expressions. Brock's dark stare gazes back at him like a psychopathic reptile, this wasn't the first time Husa had seen such a threatening man. It brought back a distant memory, a flashback of a traumatizing event that took place in his childhood. Enraged by such a reminding figure of his own insecurities he returned his frustration with a twitch in his lip and then his right eye. Deep down, Husa knew something between the families would break down and that this man was going to be a problem. However, he couldn't anticipate how this would all unfold. After saying their goodbye's the Himura's vanished into the darkness of the forests but before they scattered forth Husa set his eyes upon the beauty of Moriaty Lovecraft once again. The whole family sensed something about the Lovecraft's and their enchantment. They were incredibly attracted to them, fascinated even. They began to make their way back to the family household with less worry but still aware that there was an unknown enemy still lurking in the darkness. This is an enemy that could cause both families serious trouble and exposure. Fortunately sheer bloodshed was just prevented but this wouldn't last for long.
"My dear, how's your arm?" says Marimbo.
"It's fine father, I thought he was going to break it" replied Moriaty.
"Anyways, you're more injured than me. We need to get you treated soon."
"It's ok, it's not deep enough to put me down and by tomorrow it'll have healed up" replies Marimbo.
"So what are we going to do about the Himura's?" says Brock
"They could be a problem…"
"Yes they could pose a threat but we gave them our word and that would go against everything we stand for" replies Sigmund.
"Indeed it has been a long time since I've encountered a Vampire, they are of the old world just like us. They keep their word and value their rules. If we follow the agreed territorial boundaries set forth I think we can live among them" discusses Marimbo.
"Besides there aren't many of us in our family and both our races are dying out, it would be foolish for us to fight."
"Father's right, violence doesn't solve anything" Moriaty contributes however Brock quickly interrupts her at the last word.
"My lord, if I may suggest that it would be best to take some cautious action and not one of threatening means."
"Go on?" Marimbo curiously replies.
"Let me observe their capabilities just in case. It would even give me a chance afterwards to go and track the real enemy they were searching for which is now a foe of ours as well."
"Hmmm…" Marimbo puts his hand on his chin and quickly rubs it for a second to critically think deeply about his suggestion.
"Go!" he then sets forth his guard to stalk the vampires on their journey back. As soon as Brock heads toward the Himura's, the rest of his family move in the opposite direction and towards their new home.
The Himura's moved forth at lightning speed, but it was no trouble for Brock. Rare blood types were just as fast as them. Something was disturbing their leader's senses and Husa sensed it too. Brock was stalking them like a predator preparing for attack. He took note of their body movements, their special traits and this allowed him to observe what skills they may possess. However, he couldn't quite pinpoint Husa's talents. Eventually the family arrive at their home standing by the gates. Their landing arrival at the household gates from jumping from the tree branches above ended with the aware Thorian taunting their foe to reveal himself in the mists.
"Show yourself…" says Thorian. All aside from Husa seem to be confused by their leaders statement.
They turn around towards the dark forests surrounding their household.
"Himura, stay in position" Thorian whispers. Husa believes there is a reasonable explanation as to why he has told him to refrain from their usual defensive formation.
"What's this…" says Ukaid. The family notice his shadow. Brock enters the Himura's territory with a vicious look on his face. His left eye blocked by the shadows of the trees. This posed as a problem, now the Lovecraft's knew where the family lives sending Brock for a threatening purpose, at least that's how it seemed for them.
Everyone seems prepared for battle but Vell's confidence in herself is shredded. That last encounter gave her some mental trauma, she believed was going to die and it was an experience she had never felt before.
"I thought we came to agreed terms did we not?" says Hemphia. This was usually the time when she would contribute to Hemphia's remarks but this time she wasn't acting her usual over confident self. The frontman now weary of such step forward in front of Vell knowing that in her current state she lacked the fighting spirit required to engage in combat.
"Stand back Vell" says Malcolm rationally.
"You're in no fit state to fight…" Artemus contributes. He places his hand on her shoulder as he moves forward.
Thorian clenches his fist and raises it up. "Are you going to answer why you followed us, superhuman?" The wind blows deeply for a second, and Brock's reply is a silent stare. The Himura's aren't sure whether he plans to break the territorial rules but his arrogance and domineering stature sends chills to their spines.
"Who the hell do you think you are? You enter our land alone and expect us to be afraid of you!" replies the aggravated Himura head.
"Shut up! You are nothing but a piece of shit, a calamity, an inferior and cursed race!" Brock severely replies strongly mocking him. This psychologically destroys the morale of the family, it was the first time they had seen the look of panic in Thorian's face. He was usually always confident used to standing valiantly ahead of them acting as their source of inspiration. However, little did Brock know that the whole time he had a plan up his sleeve. Part of him was only acting but the other knew that if this plan failed it could end his life. Even so, he wasn't afraid of taking risks.
Aside from Husa and Vell the whole family move forth to surround their target.
"Remember, you provoked us, you asked for this" says Thorian. Like a pack of wolves they attack the Lovecraft Family guard head on. The first to engage combat are the frontman attempting to relentlessly strike blows at their target but they are disarmed and tossed aside like puppies. The next person to attempt to take his life is Hemphia using her sword Vaporian to tear off his head. However, Brock's superior physical skills allow him to bash the flat side of the giant sword avoiding its sharp edge. This sends a thunderous shudder into her arms and she is side kicked in the gut 5 feet ahead. Thorian diving from above arrives with a killing blow aiming to put an end to this foe once and for all but he misses his kneck. Now with defences left open, Brock grabs his attacking right hand tightly using it to body slam him to the ground. He looks down at the Himura head implanted on the grass as a lower being saying "A bold attempt, but you fail."
Whilst the first of the Himura's fall, Ukaid has regrouped with the frontmen for the next assault, this time with Tek lingering in the background of the trees. Ukaid is the first to embrace the next encounter and he is given a low kick at his right leg to catch him off his feet. Stumbling for balance, the giant receives a heavy jump kick that sends him flying backwards into the charging frontmen feet's away just like Marimbo's Lovecraft's previous tactic used in the earlier battle. Tek gets ready for his diving daggering throw attack, the same method he used to pierce the Lovecraft leader's shoulder but was supposed to hit his head. Like a lightning bolt he appears a relative distance before Brocks side shouting "Bulls eye" falling beside the nearby tree. Thinking he had slayed the mighty guard and ripped his brain apart, Tek turns around in astonishment.
"No way" he says. The dagger he threw was caught by Brock's teeth, his head tilted upwards. He returns his head to normal position and drops the dagger from his teeth to his left hand. He then throws the dagger at the surprised Tek. It's a hit slightly cutting his left waist open getting his robe caught on and entrapped by the nearby tree stem.
"Using the same methods you used before won't work on me, I can anticipate all your moves" claims Brock.
"What's with this guy, there's no way that he can beat all of us at once" says Tek.
"I have studied your body movements and assessed your skills in battle. You are no match for me. That is my specialty, once I know how my opponents fight I can't be beaten" laughs Brock, his eyes now glowing bright blue.
Looking above, the Himura leader was right about him. He gets on his feet with Hemphia already ahead of him aiming to chop Brock in half. "Vaporian!" she shouts picking up her sword dropped earlier and lunges ahead.
"You should never give up your position, your loud bickering gives you away" replies Thorian. He jumps in the air to land on the flat side of her sword in a crouching position. He then flying head-butts the ravaging female into the distance claiming her sword in grasp. Thorian already running to Hemphia's aid is angered by Brock's assault but he retains his cool. He made a fool out of all of them, this was a psychological defeat but Thorian still had a secret weapon in the distance. He purposely leaves himself open as he charges forth attempting to strike the invincible guard.
"I told you already. You can't defeat me" replies Brock as he stabs the Himura head through the left side of his abdomen. Blood splatters over the grass and Thorian falls on to lean on him. It's a shock for the whole family to see this tragic scene. They had never seen the tactician in such as state.
"Thorian!" Hemphia briefly cries out to him.
"He's invincible" Ukaid acknowledges the strength of the Lovecraft guard.
"Any last words?" asks Brock.
Coughing up blood, Thorian replies "I wouldn't get so confident".
"I'm surprised you still question my power" says Brock arrogantly.
"There's no one here who stands a chance against me. I can anticipate all your attacks with my all seeing eye."
"Well that's where you are wrong" stutters Thorian.
"You see there is one who could rival your power and with you now by my grasp he will end your life with ease" Thorian grabs Brock tightly.
"Himura, finish him off!" he roars.
"What?" confused by the situation at hand Brock turns his head to the right to notice Husa far ahead now pointing his index finger at him much like a pistol. He can feel the force of Husa's emitting aura.
Husa fires a blasting force of energy that's implodes on Brocks back, he refers to this technique as the Phantom Raygun. Brock instantly falls down and his back is torn apart and burnt by the heat of the wave.
"Well would you look at that…" Tek painfully yanks out the dagger that had entrapped him on the tree stem. Vell had never seen an attack like that before. She never knew that Husa was capable of such. Heck, the whole family was quite shocked to see this themselves but she seemed jealous due to her lack of involvement in the battle. Thorian pulls out the sword from his stomach and gives it to Hemphia.
"Are you alright?" she asks.
"I'll be fine, he didn't hit any vitals so it's ok" he replies.
"You planned this from the start didn't you" stirs Brock in clear agony. He was clearly incapacitated now and could barely move.
"Yes. You shouldn't underestimate me, you shouldn't underestimate my family."
The family moves towards the defeated titan surrounding his damaged and shredded body.
"So what now?" asks Tek.
"If we leave him to recover he could escape or attack us again" Malcolm contributes.
"Let's kill him now" says Hemphia.
"I'll do it" Ukaid says, he prepares for the killing blow ready to crush his skull.
"Wait!" says Thorian.
"Wait, wait for what?" Artemus asks.
"It's clear he came for a fight but what of the rest of his family. I'd like to know what their intentions are towards us first" Thorian states.
"I came…here…at my own accord. But…if my family does find out about this….they will have your heads you bloodsucking animals" replies Brock. Thorian knows this event could lead to further bloodshed.
"If we kill him we are going to have to be on guard and ready for the Lovecraft's" he says.
Vell is awfully quiet compared to her usual loud mouthed self. She would usually say something unreasonable but felt too ashamed to contribute to the situation they are in. Thorian was expecting her to say something radical too which would have allowed him to set the order to finish off Brock for good. He decided to let someone else make the choice rather than take absolute control of the situation asking Husa "Himura, what would you have us do?" considering he was the one that handed the blow which defeated him. Husa closes his eyes deeply for a brief moment. He has vicious flashbacks of the monstrous tyrant that Brock's presence reminded him off which would decide his fate.
"He broke the territorial rules and that punishment is death" Husa crunches Brock's kneck with a vigorous downwards kick using the impact from his heel to end his life. For a short five seconds there is silence. The wind rustles past and the Himura family acknowledge the death of a fearless and mighty foe.
"Ukaid, dump the body far from this place" Thorian orders.
"We are going to have to be prepared for what's to come."
"Right" Ukaid quickly replies.
Husa knows that this murder would lead to further conflict and could feel that such an action had influenced fate but he is prepared for the consequences at hand.
