Chapter 2

Something is wrong. I think myself don't know about. It looks like this unknown news has effected the whole street. Everyday I go and purchase some ingrediants for the families breakfast, and usually I can hardly think because the streets of London are one of the busiest and loudest streets of all in the mornings. But today it will silent. There was no smartly dressed men walking briskly to work, no children in bunches rolling hoops or walking to school, no mothers taking a stroll with her new-born in a pram. Nobody. The street was dead.

All the shops were closed and locked tight. I was the only one walking across the cobble stones. I was the only one who didn't appear to know the ongoings of the street. Maybe a global crisis is coming? Maybe I'm just paronoid? However this is like nothing I have seen before. Not for while anyway.

The family had some sort of meeting this afternoon. The door was firmly shut and nobody could enter. Not that I would want to, I just wanted to know if they were disscussing this secret I was well and truly un-aware of. All that could be heard from the drawing room (the place in which this meeting was taking place) is mumbles and the wailing of the children, desprate to be released from the family meeting that they would rather be missing. That meeting was what triggered my idea.

I could get the information I needed from Marget or Timmy, depending on how guilible the children are. Oh, what am I thinking!! I can't decieve the children like that. What if Sir Downton found out? I'd lose my job then he would send me packing with a Character Refrence. Then what would I do? Beg on the street? Pickpocket? Nonsense. I won't turn into those disgraceful people, (as mean as it sounds) Maybe if I just asked Lady Downton then I wouldn't be decieving anyone and I won't be at risk on losing my possition.

The street is back alive again. Seems like everything is back to normal, still ,something seems odd about it all. Even though the street is loud and full of people again everyone seems to be........on edge. I do not know how long I will stay sane if I don't find out what is wrong. I just hope this isn't as bad as I am anticipating it to be, but, what if.........what if it is bad? What if this unknown crisis isn't as miniscule as I hope. The children seem to be blissfuly un-aware of the on-goings of this world, even after the not-so-secret family meeting that took place not so long ago.

Well I have been called back to my daily chores, and god help me I am cleaning out the chamber pots this time!! Maybe I have got this all wrong and there is nothing wrong at all and it's just me and my imagination running away with me once again. I hope so anyways.....................
