Poor, Unfortunate Souls

Even thought the streets were dark, they were not enough cover. My shoes, which made a loud, clicking noise whenever I took a step, could not be helped.  I could hear him behind me, getting closer with each step.  My breath was coming in short rasps now, my throat burning for a rest.  Reaching down, I grabbed at my wildly swinging bag and managed to grab a bottle, which hopefully contained water. Since I had been looking down, I was not concetrating on where I was going, so when a bend in the road came, I didn't turn.  The wall was hard. It sent shudders through me, and now my whole body was in pain. I was still recovering from the crash, so I wasn't thinking to start running again. Now i could see him, and had to lean against the wall for support. He still looked the same, handsome man  I had met a few years ago, but I was different. There would be no way that he would recgonize me now. When he was only a few feet away, and I could see his face, I stood straight. It took a lot of effort, though. I knew if I couldn't get him to recgonize me, then that would be it. There would be no hope for me, and him.  "You know something, I have always been excited for a moment like this" he stopped walking, and turned to look at me. "A dark alley, weak vampire completly vulernable." " You need to listen to me. Stop acting like you don't know me. I couldn't have changed that much. With much effort, I crossed my arms. " Oh I remember you vey well. It was just a couple nights ago, and we were by the river." "I don't mean like that, you have got to remember me. You can't kill me either. I've done no wrong. And, I'm in love.  It wouldn't be fair." He laughed. "Life isn't fair. I don't even know why I am telling you this, but I was in love just a month ago. The girl was torn away from me, killed by a vampire. So now, I plan on killing every one in this city until I find the one that did it."  So he does remember me! " Yes! That happened to me too, except I lost the man I loved, who actually looked a lot like you." "Well, what happened?" "We were seperated for a while and when we met again, he wanted to kill me." "Thats terrible! I still need to kill you, though. If I don't then i will never find who did it.  "Let me help you! Please, I've never killed a human before. Why do you think I am so weak? My eyes arn't completly red from human blood. I know where vampires hide. I will find the one who killed me..I mean your girl." " let me see your eyes."  I looked up, and could see his eyes searching my face.
