Pain was etched in all his features, tossing and turning in the king sized bed, cold sweat dripped from his forehead to the pillow beneath him. The doctor loomed over him and grimaced, the boys chest raised up and down labouredly as he struggled to breathe. The doctor turned to face the door way were two figures cast a shadow on the floor “He has an extended case of pneumonia, this may be his last night.” The lone candle illuminating the large room reflected against his mothers face. Her eyes were sunken in and face stained with tears. “Can I see him doctor, I just want him to know I will be here.” Hoarse coughs suddenly echoed across the room rebounding off the walls, a hand fell limply to the side of the bed hanging like a vine from a tree. Two tan fingers were placed on the boys pale wrist and they moved up and down expertly checking for a pulse. The doctor shook his head sadly and turned the boy to his side. Blood dribble from his pale mouth pooling onto the floor . Turning to go the doctor heard a shallow inhalation and he turned around one last time to check his calculations. He again ran his fingers across the cyanosis skin of the boy. A faint rise and fall of the chest caught him off guard, and the hand he was feeling clutched his wrist. “Don’t let me die.” sputtered the boy and spewed black substance onto the bed covers while some of it dribbled down his chin. The hand on the doctors wrist grew tighter his skin become a creamy shade of purple. It was as if the boy was trying to grab a hold of life as his slowly slipped into oblivion. The hand began to shake violently and the boys eyes turned and flipped to the back of his head. Blood streamed from the sockets and dribbled into his open mouth as he gasped for air. “Don’t let me die, Don’t let me die.” He opened his mouth and let out a bloodcurdling scream . The black liquid sputtered and gurgled in his throat he spun to his stomach and the liquid poured out . The liquid was black and glistening in the candle light, it bubbled and popped as it cooled on the mahogany . The boy clutched the sheets his knuckles turning a tint of blue as he vomited the poison out of his system. Fear clambered up into his throat as he watched the substance dribble down the cracks in the floor seeping into every nook and cranny consuming the white plaster and turning it black.

2 years later

Smoke billowed in large dark clouds suffocating the sun in its wake. Yellow police lines surrounded the house and yellow flames roared up from the roof. The boy barely 16 stood in a clean tux his head hung low, this had all been his fault. The contamination , the sickness, and the deaths all his fault. He clenched his fists and a single tear trickled down his cheek as he watched his one and only home blaze to cinders. A thin hand fell on his shoulder disrupting him from his thoughts. “ Aaron…. Darling this must be very painful for you and I just want you to know I will always be here for you.” Aaron glanced upwards, an elderly women stood above him. Her thin cheek bones cast shadows over her face hiding her wrinkled features, but the one thing that stood out were her eyes. Like ice they pierced his skin sending a ripple of bumps up and down his arms, they gouged into his bones scrapping and screeching against them. She brought her hand down onto his arm, her long nails digging into his skin like a snakes fangs. “I will always be there for you.” she smiled her yellow teeth glistening against the shadows. “ Leave me alone.” hissed Aaron. “ Now darling that’s no way to speak to your new mother. He felt the hair on the back of his neck stand on end he tightened his fist and his nails spilt. Blood trickled down his fingers and streamed down onto the pavement. Aaron pulled away from the women threw back his head and spit on her shoes. She stood in shock and then lashed out at him, her bony knuckles struck the side of his head. He could hear the snapping and separating of the skin and felt a warm liquid flow down his head. Aaron felt himself losing consciousness and all he could do was gasp. He saw a large man jogging towards them and then his vision blurred and disappeared completely
