Poem about the Black Plague

Dream of Death

I went to bed and had a dream

I was walking along an empty street

Looking down I realized

It was not a street I was walking on

But piles of the dead

I saw my friends I saw my family

I saw strangers too

I looked from side to side

And all I saw was dead

Black and blue and covered in flies

The smell of rotten flesh burned my eyes

I saw through the foul fog and smoke

And at me a face loomed

A skeleton it was and it beckoned me to come

I woke up and it was true

Death had come to take me too
