This story takes place in Grant County, Indiana in the 1840s. The Underground Railroad transporting slaves from the southern states ran through this area and many local Quaker and non Quaker folks sacrificed their own safety to help the runaway slaves. The names and places in my story are factual. The two runaway slave girls are factual as are the bounty hunters pursuing them. Much of the story is made up of elements of other historical situations which I adapted to this story. At the end of the story, the means of saving the girls from capture is true and was the seed of the whole idea for the story.

When you finish Part One be sure to find the links below the story which will take you to the other parts. Thank you for reading my story. I really do appreciate you taking the time.
