There was once an architect. He was a very famous man. The people of the small town called George loved him. George was tired of people getting hurt by crossing the road and getting hit by cars. The cops were doing nothing about it! So the man went exploring to go and get some ideas on how to solve this problem.
He went into the wild worlderness of Africa and came across some magnificent sights. The man first came across a small river. He wanted to cross the river. He did not have a bridge. He came up with an idea that if people wanted to cross the road safely, there should be a crossing from one side of the road to the other. He did not know what it was going to look like though. So the man, too tired after all of his walking, walked away from the river to rest under a a tree.
After the man had had a nap, he spotted a black and white creature. He was still very sleepy after he had woken up and he knew that he had seen a zebra. This gave him the idea of a zebra crossing. The road would be painted with white stripes from one side to the other!
So the man went home with excitement and told the mayorabout this brand new idea. He explained how cars were supposed to wait for people to cross the road on a zebra crossing and how they would not get killed or ge hurt if this happens. The mayor loved thid idea and sent many workmen to go and build zebra crossings on every busy highway road and street.
After all the zebra crossings were built, the town lived happily ever after and nobody got hurt ever again.
The idea of writing this story came to me when I read my English book from grade 4 from 5 years ago. I was very chuffed with this story because I remembered it. It brings back many memories from junior school
