I have a work history that started 34 years ago with the greatest success being over the last 11 years where I owned my own sales process consulting company.
Those in the know say when you write, you should write about what you know best. You should stay in your niche. So yes, I have spent the last couple of years writing about sales management, sales process, and sales skills for the people who actually go to the marketplace and sell goods and services.
Then it occurred to me that I also have life experience. I married, had children and my children had children. I reflected on this thinking. Should I write articles about marriage after being married for 45 years? Should I write about raising children, definitely a challenge in this fast paced multitask world we now live in? Should I write about starting a business?
I looked at several Web sites that publish articles and it was all there from arts and entertainment to relationships to kids and teens. Every life experience you could imagine was already being written about, and the majority of what was published was excellent and helpful to the reader. Knowing that did not solve my problem. I wanted to write about something other than sales.
That is when the idea hit me. It just jumped into my head from wherever the imagination lives in my brain. I could change my genre and move away from my sales expertise to my understanding of what it means to be a human being living on planet earth.
Now that I am retired, I write short stories, some for children and some for adults, and I write poetry. Enjoy and please be uninhibited in giving me your feedback.
