Chapter 1: A Vampire in Bangor (?)
Eddie Collins had wanted to be a policeman for most of his life. But before graduating from a college in a town near his home town of Bangor, Maine he became fascinated with his studies of the science of detection. Sometimes as a student he would get to go on patrol with policemen and see what it really was like for patrolman. There was a time or two when the policecars he was riding with were called to murder scenes.
The detective that was riding in the front seat with a policeman who was driving to a particular scene of a new case looked behind himself to Eddie and said: "You ready to see some real action now son?" "What do you mean sir ?" "What we have at the house we are going to is a tripple homicide. A father, a mother and their teen-age daughter. All three apparetly were killed by the same person and, get this, all three apparently have no blood left in their bodies based on the color of their skin according to what the coroner's preliminary report says so for."
"Sir," said Eddie. "May I make a preliminary observation? "It would be just a conjective observation since we have not even seen the bodies yet Eddie but go ahead." "Sir, I don't want to sound like a nut case or somethink like that but this sounds just like the traditional desciption of how a scene looks after a vampire has attacked a victim." "You are right Eddie," said his mentor, "You are right. But if you want any hope of having a career in the department in the future I would not mention it." "I understand," said Eddie. But Eddie had no idea of quitting his theory of research that these killings could have been committed by a supernatural creature.
