September 28, 1998

8:54 P.M.

The train doors shut, then several moments later there is an explosion from inside of the control room. Justin slams his hands against the door and begins to yell. He falls to his knees with tears streaming down his cheeks, for today they had not only lost a fellow officer, but also a close friend. Josh sat down, just looking off into the distance with a forlorn look on his face. Devin stood up clinching his fists, and Sarah hugged Devin tightly, but showed no emotion. The U.B.C.S. were completely dumbstruck as to what they could do to remedy the situation, so they decided to just stay out of it. Everybody sat quite quietly for a while, and absolutely nothing happened. No zombies arrived, and the train didn't move. Eventually, Dmitr stood up and walked to the front of the train, sat in the conductors booth, and flipped some switches to make the train move. Devin sat down, and Sarah began to pace around, thinking. Devin looked up and began to speak.

Devin: It's my fault he's dead. I could've gone.

Josh: Yeah, but then you would've died.

Sarah: It would've been far worse if that had happened.

Justin: He's probably much happier now anyways. You all know how his life was...

Josh: We should drop it, focus on the future. We'll all have time to mourn in the future.

Erik: Yeah, for now we need to think about where we're headed and what the chances of another outbreak happening are.

Koryn: Well, judging from what Devin has said about what happened before our groups met up, the zombies in the mountains had to come from somewhere right? My best guess is that Umbrella had a lab somewhere in the nearest town, and the virus got out. They probably don't even know that something happened, so it'll be a while before anybody comes to check it out, then we'll need to get out because after that... they'll use a surgical strike.

Justin: ...

Devin: Sounds right...

Josh: The closest town is Wolfhelm, it's probably where the outbreak originated. It's a pretty big town. So, there's more than likely a Umbrella lab somewhere or another.

Dmitr(on the train's intercom): We're approaching a station. I think it's Wolfhelm, it's where I received my training. So, we're going to stop here.

Everybody prepares, then the train stops a few minutes later, and everybody files out into the station. There is seldom anything out of place, besides for multiple sets of muddy footprints leading both in and out of the station. Everybody goes topside of the station, and the streets are bare. Nothing and nobody. No zombies, no humans, no cops, nothing. Everybody walks slowly, keeping an eye out. After going a block or two, they hear a familiar voice, it was Billy talking from the inside of a bus parked on the side of the road.

Billy: So... you all made it. Well, most of you anyways. I see you lost the tough one and the smart one. Heh. Well, you guys oughta be safe for a while. I got here a few hours ago, and I've seen absolutely nothing in the time I've been here.

Devin: Nothing?

Billy: No. Nothing. Maybe they already did a sweep.

Dmitr: Umbrella?

Billy: Yeah, why else would it be so quiet? Hmm... well, I need to get going. I just have a sense that something bad is going to happen soon, and I don't want anything to do with it when it does happen.

Devin: Sounds good, bye.

Billy: Check ya later. Good luck.

He begins to run off, and to the south, there is a single set of footsteps. Into the distance come no-other than Kenneth, Erik’s deceased brother. Now bigger, and tougher looking than ever. He was even more mutated, his claws were much longer and more jagged, and he was more slouched, he now was a sickening grey with blue veins popping up everywhere. And, he was coming straight for the group. Everybody raised their weapons, but Erik held up his hand. He wanted this fight to himself, it was his brother, and he planned on ending his suffering. There was then a transmission over all of the U.B.C.S.'s hand held radios.

Radio: ...*static*commencing operation...*static*...destroying Wolfhelm...*static*...commencing in twenty minutes...*static*...destroying Raccoon city*static*...now...

Dmitr: S***! Hurry up Erik! We have to go.

Erik: There's a car... go. I'm going to stay, I've nothing left. We were the last two in our family, and now that he's gone, I've got nothing.

Dmitr: ... if that's what you want.

Billy pulls up in a hummer, and sticks his head out the window.

Billy: C'mon! I just got a message on this heaps radio! If you wanna survive, get in!

Erik: Best of luck, all of you.

Dmitr: Goodbye, my friend.

Everybody except Erik gets into the Hummer and they speed off for the nearby highway. Erik begins to run towards the Sidewinder Kenneth, and he does a strong hook to it's jaw. It follows up with a slash across Erik’s chest. Erik jumps back and fires his pistol into his brothers chest, doing little more than causing it to bleed. His brother grabs Erik’s throat, and lifts him off the ground. Erik draws his combat knife from it's sheath, and rams it into Kenneth's eye socket, deeper and deeper. He then takes it out and slashes across his other eye. He drops Erik, who does a slash to both Achilles Tendons as he hits the ground. Kenneth falls down, and continues to blindly claw into the air, and he gets lucky. One of his slashes hits Erik in the throat, causing him to begin to bleed heavily. As Erik bleeds out, he jabs his knife into his brothers head, causing the Sidewinder to fall limp, and die.

Erik: Goodbye... brother.

Erik dies on his brothers back, and nineteen minutes from then, the bombs hit the city, destroying it completely.
