I sat there, crying. I wondered if I’d ever eat again, ever be able to sleep again, ever breathe again. I was only a few seconds away from death, or worse. I shouldn’t have left Aaron’s side. I heard his footsteps approaching my secrecy, and then I knew it was all over. He lifted the sheet from the table, and I looked into the man’s eyes, with complete terror, and wonder.
