Chapter 7: Pack your bags
The first light of a new day is the most remarkable sight. It signifies a new day and anything can be achieved in the time given to us every day. But so often it gets taken for granted, how many of you can actually say you have watched this, for something so simple it proves a challenge to acknowledge. "Hurry up Phillip quickly before mum gets home." The last of the bags had covered the backseat of the family sedan. "How long are we going to be gone for dad?" Phillip closed his door and fastened his seat belt. "A few days Son, I just want you to get the opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors." They exchanged smiles before the engine broke the morning silence and slowly the vehicle disappeared from sight.
The lush green bushland brought about a strange wave of emotion for Tom; he had a strange sense of recognition but quickly dismissed it. The pair quickly set up the campsite and before long they were slouched over a campfire. "Hey dad why doesn't mum like you camping?" For a brief moment he was struck by the question or perhaps he was thinking of a reason himself. "I actually don't know Phil; I never understood why she got so mad at the idea." Tom pleased with his response decided it was best to call it a day. "Get some sleep ok, we have a massive day tomorrow, if you behave I might even let you have a shot from my rifle!" Tom winked at Phillip why raising his finger to his lip. He knew he was directly disobeying his wife when he packed his old hunting rifle. It was left to him after the mysterious death of the father. Make no mistake despite the man's ignorance it was a beautiful weapon, well balanced and neatly maintained.
